Harvard Satanic Mass Update
by

Alas, the Satanic black mass scheduled for last evening on the campus of Harvard University did not occur, at least not there, apparently instead convening in a nearby Chinese restaurant, whose owner may have been unaware, and after a local nightclub declined the honor.

The Harvard Extension School Cultural Studies Club was to have hosted the black mass in partnership with the Satanic Temple of New York but dropped its sponsorship, presumably in reaction to enormous controversy, leaving the Satanists on their own. According to the Harvard Crimson, at the Chinese restaurant, “four individuals in hoods and one man in a white suit, a cape, and a horned mask were active in the proceedings, as well as a woman revealed to be wearing only lingerie,” with about 50 people looking on.

Meanwhile, Harvard President Drew Faust, who defended the black mass’s presence as part of Harvard’s “free expression” while also calling the event “abhorrent” as an “affront to the values of inclusion,” attended a Catholic Eucharistic Holy Hour on campus that was convened to counter the black mass. She wanted to show “respect for the Catholic faith at Harvard and to demonstrate that the most powerful response to offensive speech is not censorship, but reasoned discourse and robust dissent.”
