In a snapshot, nothing captures the fascist and racist nature of the “cancel culture” better than the recent attempt to take down the Hispanic boss of a Hispanic-founded company that began by catering to American Hispanics — and went on to become an American cultural icon.
The Goya CEO, Robert Unanue, was invited to the White House to participate in a ceremony for a Hispanic Prosperity Initiative. Stepping to the podium, Unanue committed the sin of being polite, gracious, and supportive of his host, President Trump, by saying that Americans were “truly blessed” to have Trump in the White House.
Cue the mob.
It did not matter — but of course — that Unanue had also paid a visit to the White House during the Obama presidency. As reported by the business-oriented Manufacturing Net:

SECAUCUS, N.J. (PRNewswire) — Representatives of Goya Foods, Inc., America’s largest Hispanic-owned food company, paid a special visit this past Friday, September 30, to meet President Barack Obama in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Goya Foods President Robert Unanue introduced President Obama at a reception at the White House, saying he was “honored and humbled” to be among the distinctive group gathered for the occasion. Unanue and members of his family took the opportunity to present President Obama with Goya’s commemorative book, If It’s Goya, It Has To Be Good — 75 Years of History.
President Obama saluted Goya Foods, and extended his gratitude to the Hispanic community and its great contributions to the nation.
“The United States has welcomed immigrants from all parts of the world, and we, as Hispanics, have embraced our responsibility to work to make it a better country and contribute to its ongoing development and in the process, become agents of change, encouragement and inspiration,” said Goya’s Unanue. “This year, Goya Foods celebrates its 75th anniversary. We are proud of being part of the 50 million Hispanics who live in this country.”

And that was not the only time the Goya CEO was celebrated by the Obama White House. Back in 2012, First Lady Michelle Obama’s office released this statement about a project on which she had collaborated with Goya and Unanue:

Outrage from social media types or conservatives on either of those two occasions? Zero. Angry stories from CNN anchors? Zero. But now? But now? With the cancel culture media frenzy metastasizing like some form of political cancer, all hell breaks loose because Goya and its CEO Unanue did exactly the kind of thing they did with both President and Mrs. Obama.
Leftists who are active in Latino circles suddenly pretend they are Latinos and not leftists. To my utter amazement, there was this headline and story:
CNN anchors trash Trump over photo-op with Goya products
CNN was furious, you see, that Trump celebrated Goya in the middle of the pandemic. But when Obama took time out in the middle of running wars in Afghanistan and Iraq to celebrate Goya? Silence from CNN.
Trash Trump? Not only were CNN and various Democrats trashing Trump, by inference they were trashing President and Mrs. Obama for working with and celebrating the success of Goya.
Fox Business reported that
Democrats like New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and former Obama HUD Secretary Julián Castro were among those who called for a boycott of Goya products.
Unfortunately for all of these people who apparently object to a Hispanic businessman making his own decisions and walking away from the Leftist Racial Plantation to do as he damn well pleases for his company — all of this has backfired.
On the spot, a “Buycott” campaign to support Goya sprang up. And Goya sales, per CEO Unanue, “quadrupled.” (And a personal note: as a regular Goya customer myself, I have made a point to stock up. I love Goya!) Indeed, a friend of mine reported that she was at her local Giant and went to stock up on Goya goods to support the Buycott. She found a store clerk busy restocking the Goya shelves. When the clerk realized my friend was stocking up on Goya herself, she asked what was going on as my friend was the third person to do this. The situation explained — which the clerk had been unaware of — she said now she understood why the store’s Goya products were flying off the shelves.
So. What do we have here? We have a bunch of cancel culture fanatics — or as I call them, the New American Fascists — trying to destroy everything from statues to a New York Times journalist to, now, a seriously great American company that was begun by Hispanic Americans and has now become an American cultural staple. Either you toe the New American Fascist line — or they will come for you.
Make no mistake: No one is safe in this.
Which in turn will make the 2020 election one of the most consequential in American history.
Is it any wonder a story like this has floated up? The headline over at Breitbart was this:
