Did John Edwards Want an Abortion?
by

It’s loathsome reading, but avid followers of the Democrats’ political corruption should check out the Wall Street Journal‘s preview of Andrew Young’s forthcoming tell-all of former U.S. Senator John Edwards.

The book isn’t released until Tuesday, but reporters for the WSJ got a copy at a Washington, D.C., bookstore. The review includes about a dozen anecdotes from the book, including details about Edwards’ preferred brand of hair shampoo (to help with those $400 haircuts) and how he tried to cover up his affair with Rielle Hunter.

One of the most odious excerpts:

Hunter’s pregnancy: According to Young, Hunter called him in May 2007 to say she was pregnant. Young says that when he informed Edwards, the senator told him to “handle it,” to which he replied: “I can’t handle this one.” Young writes that Edward unloaded on Hunter as a “crazy slut,” said they had an “open relationship,” and put his paternity chances at “one in three.” Young says that Edwards asked him for help persuading Hunter to have an abortion. Young writes that Hunter believed the baby to be “some kind of golden child, the reincarnated spirit of a Buddhist monk who was going to help save the world.”

The book’s content should be taken with a grain of salt, in my opinion. I don’t trust Young as far as I could punt him. Still, given the sordid details about Edwards’ political and personal life already known to be factual, anything is possible and nothing off the table.
