Democrat Ron Barber is headed to a roughly 53 percent to 45 percent win over Republican Jesse Kelly in the special election to fill out the remainder of former Rep. Gabby Giffords’ House term. Giffords beat Kelly by a smaller margin in 2010.
The race focused heavily on Giffords, for whom Barber worked, and a fundraiser in which Kelly invited donors to shoot a gun with the candidate. Barber was injured in the shooting attack on Giffords. Barber will face off against a Republican challenger again in November.
