Julia R. Cartwright is a PhD economist at the American Institute for Economic Research. She specializes in law and economics, political economy, and development, with research spanning crypto market governance, judicial interventions in East Africa, and the impact of housing regulations. A former professor at Pepperdine University, Hope College, and Kalamazoo College, she has taught over 15 economics courses including Game Theory and African Development. She actively contributes to public discourse through debates, media, reviews, and a TEDx talk, and serves as lead economist for Pepperdine’s Sudreau Global Justice Institute, where she evaluates judicial reforms such as plea bargaining and case backlog reduction in Rwanda and Uganda.
