A plurality of Utah voters say that Sen. Orrin Hatch does not deserve another term, according to a new poll by the Salt Lake City Tribune. Hatch could be vulnerable to a primary challenge from a more conservative candidate, just as Sen. Bob Benett was ousted earlier this year.
The poll finds that 40 percent of voters would support giving him a seventh term, compared to 48 percent who wouldn’t.
That said, among Republicans he was supported by 60 percent.
