One last point on Israel. Jim writes that with regard to aid to Israel, “we’re not just talking about military aid. We are talking about economic aid.” But actually, while Israel used to receive economic aid, the Bush administration agreed to end that back in 2007 and move toward only military aid. See this NY Times story, or, for more detailed numbers, a chart on page 24 of this report by the Congressional Research Service, which shows no economic aid going to Israel in 2008, 2009 or 2010.
