Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) has announced she will not seek another term in 2012. “I have known since 2006 that I wouldn’t seek another term,” the senator told the Dallas Morning News. “I wanted to announce it on my own terms and in my own way.”
Maybe that’s true. But Hutchison badly lost a Republican primary for governor last year and was likely to face a primary challenge from Texas Railroad Commissioner Michael Williams, and possibly others, for the GOP senatorial nomination. So maybe this was the best way to go out on her own terms.
