In the end, the answer isn’t to try mob attacks like those in Mobile and Norfolk at “hate crimes.” The answer instead is to jettison almost the entire concept of “hate crimes” entirely. The whole concept is morally dubious, and a violation of justice. Here’s my full take on it.
