The Stop Online Piracy Act, currently stalled (for now) in the House, and its Senate companion, the Protect IP Act, attempt to address the legitimate problem of intellectual property infringement with the terrible solution of breaking the Internet. As such, numerous websites have gone dark today in protest. If you’re unfamiliar with the issue, this explanation from the Heritage Foundation of why the bills are problematic is a good place to start.
