One important caveat to my earlier post about the confusion of social conservative leaders. The fact that there was similar disarray among religious right leaders in 2008 — I wrote about it here after the Values Voters debate — didn’t prevent their base from making an impact. Pat Robertson might have endorsed pro-choice Rudy Giuliani for president, but socially conservative voters in Iowa and beyond didn’t.
