It wasn’t long ago that the media was hailing President Obama’s so-called (badly misnamed) “charm offensive” in which he supposedly reached out to lawmakers, including Republicans, to try to win more of them to his side. It was all for show, of course, because the substance of Obama’s actions hasn’t change one bit and his style remains divisive, angry, and blame-casting.
Now comes my friend Jim Guirard https://www.truespeak.org/contents/view/founderpresident , former longtime top aide to former Democratic Lousiana Senators Allan Ellender and Russell Long, to say that the administration’s hamhanded efforts to make the spending “sequester” seem as damaging as possible amount to a “harm offensive” meant to inflict as much pain or annoyance as possible on the American public. I understand that radio host Chris Plante already has picked up on this idea; more of us ought to do so. In truth, Obama really is doing all he can to inflict harm upon us, and it really is offensive.
As the Wall Street Journal reports today in one of its editorials, the recent flight delays are a deliberate strategy by the Obama team to make the American people cry uncle.
FAA regional employees wrote to blow the whistle on their bosses. As one email put it, “the FAA management has stated in meetings that they need to make the furloughs as hard as possible for the public so that they understand how serious it is.”
This is outrageous. It should and must stop. This isn’t just a matter of annoyance; it actually threatens public safety, because a harried airport system, including air traffic controllers, is a more dangerous airport system.
If a terrible accident happens, Obama will (once again) have blood on his hands.
Harm offensive, indeed.
