Growing up in the Connecticut public school system, environmental hysteria was a part of our everyday curriculum. In addition to endless songs and chants (“Reduce! Reuse! Recycle!”), and computer games where you had to foil the plots of evil bulldozers loose in the rainforest, Earth Day was celebrated with near-religious zeal.
