What a Joker

by

Over on the Spectator main page, Sean Higgins has an obituary for Heath Ledger, a “good, versatile actor [who] had a certain amount of guts” and, unfortunately, a pretty short run. Ledger’s talent, Higgins unsubtly hints, did not translate into knowing how to pick great scripts.

This blogger is not as down on Ledger’s films, mostly because of one movie that doesn’t come up in the obit, 10 Things I Hate About You, a modern remake of The Taming of the Shrew that was filmed at my old high school in Tacoma, Washington. It’s a great entertainment that I can pop in the DVD player any time I need a good laugh or a trip down memory lane.
