We might have all had better things to do last Saturday night, like eat tacos while watching the news, but some people in this wide world of Internet spent the evening live-Tweeting the Democratic Presidential debate, as though anything important would be said by anyone involved. Interestingly, Hillary Clinton is said to have lost the debate to Bernie Sanders, Martin O’Malley and reality, claiming that she began taking money from Wall Street because she felt sorry for them after 9/11, and that radical Islam is somehow not responsible for blowing people sky high in select European countries.
Fortunately, the esteemed former Secretary of State had Planned Parenthood’s savvy team of Twitterers at her disposal, and they performed swift and tactical rapid response, taking on Bernie Sanders over his stubborn and probably sexist resistance to advancing the cause of “reproductive justice,” whatever the heck that means.
Now, to be fair, I don’t think Bernie is as opposed to Planned Parenthood’s agenda as they think he is. He’s shown no sign that he’s not as pro-choice as anyone currently residing on the progressive left, though he does have some questionable ideas on womens liberation. That said, I’d be noting nothing new if I said Planned Parenthood has long since evolved from an organization championing “women’s rights” or even “women’s health” as it’s truly best for women, into a mouthpiece for the Democratic Establishment and their abortion-centric party platform.
But it’s actually not their political commentary that earned Planned Parenthood the “Lack of Self-Awareness” award over the weekend. It’s this parrot Tweet, quoting a line from Hillary Clinton about #BlackLivesMatter; some amorphous, generic idea she can’t fully contemplate over, say, the roar of her private jet’s engines.
Oh! The irony! Oh, the humanity (or the complete lack thereof)! It goes deeply here, of course, as most Planned Parenthoods are, notably, located in minority communities, and perform about two-thirds of their abortions for minority women. And it’s intended to be that way. Foundress Margaret Sanger is famous for admitting that her “reproductive rights” crusade was a clever cover for strategic, race-based eugenics. But of course, there’s the more obvious problem with Planned Parenthood’s Tweet: they’ve deprived quite a few children of pursuing their God-given potential, before most of them had even developed it.
Of course, we could be misreading this altogether. Planned Parenthood might want to wipe out an entire generation of human beings, but they at least understand that the little lives have value, if only for their spare parts. Monetary value. They’re still pretty dedicated to that one.
