The Clintons were in chatty moods over the weekend, as they took a break from the grueling Iowa State Fair routine to catch a little R&R in Martha’s Vineyard. After all, there’s a limit to how much “folksiness” even Hillary Clinton can stand, and she’d spent all weekend pretending to eat corndogs, dressed like Martha Stewart in a cute wide-collared blue gingham shirt, designed to coordinate with the ribbons on the pies she’d never even consider touching for fear of “proletariat cooties” (she was upstaged there by Trump, who was giving free rides in the helicopter he came in).
It just so happened that a good friend was also in Martha’s Vineyard for the week, taking time out of his busy schedule to work on his golf game. Barack Obama is spending his vacation in the exclusive locale, and met up with the Clintons yesterday for a chat and a round.
President Barack Obama and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton chatted briefly Saturday evening in Martha’s Vineyard, according to a White House official.
The two were both guests at Civil Rights activist and long-time Democratic Party fixture Vernon Jordan’s 80th birthday party.
The Obamas have known Jordan and his wife, Ann, for 20 years. Jordan served as a close adviser to President Bill Clinton, who was also in attendance, during his time in office.
More than 200 guests gathered celebrate the life of Jordan at the Farm Neck Golf Club in Oak Bluffs, where contemporary music and laughter could be heard ringing through the wooded area until late in the night.
Obama and former President Bill Clinton each offered toasts between courses of salad, surf and turf and birthday cake.
How sweet. You’ll remember Vernon Jordan as the man Bill Clinton assigned to help Monica Lewinsky get back on her feet (pun intended) after leaving her White House internship. His work was featured in the Starr Report, now unavailable in most places, because of course it is.
But while the present and future President were busy rubbing elbows, FBI agents looking into Clinton’s use of a private email server for, as we now know, top secret communications, discovered a loophole that may allow them to recover every last yoga schedule Hillary deleted. According to the cybersecurity firm, Platt River Networks, who built and maintained Hillary Clinton’s “Clinton Mail” server, there is a very good chance everything that passed through the server in her Chappaqua home was eventually replicated elsewhere. In other words, a complete backup may exist that could allow Federal investigators an eye into the entire Clinton email landscape.
Platte River Networks, the Denver-based cybersecurity firm Hillary Clinton hired in 2013 to maintain her old email server, says it is “highly likely” a full backup of the device was made and that the thousands of emails Clinton deleted may still exist, ABC News is reporting.
On Wednesday, Platte River gave the FBI the server Clinton used as secretary of state. The Democratic presidential candidate had stated numerous times prior to that that she would not relinquish control of the server to a third party.
According to Platte River’s attorney, Platte River took control of Clinton’s email system after she left the State Department. The information from her old server, in her basement was migrated to a new server under Platte River’s control. Platte River isn’t supposed to have access to classified material, so it’s still pretty unclear as to exactly what was going on. Other than Hillary Clinton trying to shuffle around the contents of her email server, of course.
