I think it’s great that Liberty University has seen fit to invite Bernie Sanders to speak on their campus next month.
An old friend of mine who I last saw at the Charlie Hebdo rally in Boston Common in January has this saying. “The Left loves diversity in everything except for opinion.”
Liberty University’s invitation to Sanders demonstrates they are far more committed to intellectual diversity than institutions like Brandeis University which withdrew an invitation to Ayaan Hirsi Ali in April 2014 and John Hopkins University when its student body forced Ben Carson to withdraw from a speaking engagement in April 2013. Unfortunately, liberal professors have taught their liberal students that they must engage in destruction of conservatives and those who do not follow liberal orthodoxy instead of dialogue.
I have a feeling the Liberty University student body will receive Sanders with an open mind and ask him tough, but intelligent questions. Too bad they are the exception and not the rule.
