The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first son was born today in St. Mary’s Hospital. The long-awaited arrival marks the birth of a new heir, third in line to the British throne.
The baby weighed eight pounds, and his name may not be released for up to a week. Due to a change in the laws of succession, if the baby had been a girl, she would have remained third in line to the throne even if she later had younger brothers.
