A Lovely Day For a Sail (For John Kerry)

CBS News reporter Mosheh Oinounou must have been a little surprised when the State Department denied that John Kerry was on his (Kerry’s, not the reporter’s) yacht on Wednesday since the reporter had taken a picture of Kerry on the boat.

This is while Egypt, the most populous Arab nation, was in the throes of a coup (or continuation of the revolution, if you prefer.)

Apparently, State. Dept. spokeswoman Jen Psaki (whom I view as a political hack anyway) continued denying that Kerry had been on the yacht even after State had been informed of the existence of the picture. She eventually admitted, on Friday, that Kerry had indeed been on the yacht on Wednesday.

On Friday, as Egypt remained in a fragile state, Kerry was back on the boat.

Now I’m not saying that John Kerry doesn’t deserve a few days off with the rest of us, but one would think that the Secretary of State might reschedule a leisure cruise while one of the Middle East’s most important nations could have been going over a cliff.

Of course, they knew that many people would think that way, so in typical Obama administration fashion, they simply decided to lie about it, hoping that nobody would call them on such an obvious fabrication.
