It looks like the IRS has decided that having all of your health care data is enough power. Less than a week after ordering spy equipment, the agency cancelled its order.
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has cancelled its purchase order for surveillance equipment, which had included coffee trays with hidden cameras and cameras that could be hidden in plants.
The IRS issued the cancellation on Wednesday at 11:49 a.m.
The IRS hasn’t exactly established goodwill with taxpayers recently, so ordering spy gadgets—like clock radios with cameras embedded in them—might not have been the smartest decision. It’s a little sad that it took public condemnation for them to realize that, but it’s better than nothing.
