Sanctimony
by

If there’s one thing the left cannot tolerate, it’s self-doubt. Progressives revel in their sanctimony, and no one does it better than the WaPo‘s David Ignatius, who parades his sycophancy for Obama with a convert’s zeal. Was the Second Inaugural just a wee bit partisan? if so, one knows whom to blame. Not Obama, who was “at times … the last person to believe in the center” over the last four years. No, it’s the “gratuitous swipes” from Republicans that are to blame. Quoting Max Weber, Ignatius bids farewell to Obama the first-term centrist and welcomes a second-term Obama the politician. “Only he has the calling for politics who is sure that he shall not crumble when the world from his point of view is too stupid or too base for what he wants to offer.” Will we ever be worthy of Obama, one wonders.
