Tea Are The Ones They’ve Been Waiting For
by

One of the favorite pastimes of the left is finding, and lauding, conservatives who are not conservative. Republicans who are Democrat. The insider who is outside. It’s a hobby, or at least a hobby horse, for much of the published online left. It is why Meghan McCain enjoys fame. It is why Frank Schaeffer exists. And it is why, as we posted about earlier this week, the “Green Tea Coalition” has a raft of glowing “heretic” coverage from the left ever since its inception under the leadership of Debbie Dooley.

As we outlined previously at “The Spectacle,” the coalition is anything but TEA, in the sense of a group of organizations dedicated to conservative causes. It should be considered a given that if you are in league with Occupy, you are not allied with the Tea Party. Let’s go ahead and stipulate that as part of the someday Tea-stitution. Let it also be considered a matter of some objective sense of reality that forming a coalition with the NAACP, which holds the position that the Tea Party is racist, is not a Tea Party thing to do. There is reaching across the aisle, and then there is reaching into the absurd.

So already Dooley’s group has zero credibility for their recent news-making objections to Gov. Bobby Jindal in Louisiana. The fact that Dooley’s group is arguing in favor of subsidies and against budget reduction should push that credibility to below zero.

In 2013, when Green Tea was pushing legislation in Georgia, Dooley claimed support of the Tea Party movement in general:

Despite the widespread move away from subsidized solar, Debbie Dooley, co-founder of the Green Tea Coalition, is quick to defend her stand: “Atlanta Tea Party and other tea parties supported the addition of solar on the basis of moving closer to the free market for energy. We were satisfied there would be no Solyndra type subsidies if additional solar was deployed and the addition would not cause upward pressure on rates and would be in the best interest of rate payers.”

However, Georgia Tea Party Inc. Energy Policy Director Patti Gettinger at the time said, ““It is repulsive to see green energy use the tea party movement in its rent-seeking activities, particularly when all evidence indicates that industry is an utter failure without heavy subsidies and government intervention—the very things the tea party opposes.”

That pretty well sums it up. And yet there is more than just the two already delegitimizing points above. Dooley has another “green” group under her coalition-building belt: Conservatives For Energy Freedom.

The group worked together with other energy focused groups to create Floridians For Solar Choice, Inc., a non-profit focusing on the ballot initiative. Some of the supporting organizations for that group might also be familiar to you.

Green Party of Florida, Greenpeace, Sierra Club Florida, and Environment Florida. If you’re not familiar with that last one, it’s a nifty organization whose main support comes from the Sapelo Foundation, which states in its website that they “promote progressive social change.” Yes, that sounds very conservative. Certainly Tea Party members in colonial garb must be lined up outside the door there looking to donate to progressive causes.

The list of lefty allies working with Debbie Dooley and her “green” organizations is extensive. Despite the clear leftist, progressive, environmentalist agenda, Dooley continues to enjoy fawning press claiming her as conservative opposition faced by Gov. Jindal in Louisiana.

That’s what the press does, especially the alarmist press. They hide facts and reveal nothing. Apparently too much sunlight isn’t just bad for the temperatures, it’s bad for business. Especially if your business is promoting “progressive social change.”
