When I was a boy, to be "conservative" meant to be Stoic, reserved, sober, and somewhat patient with human folly. (And as a Democrat, I can agree that Biden is sometimes guilty of folly.)
Now "conservatives" froth and rant; they weep on television; they bewail and moan each and every perceived slight, like some frivilous neurotic.
A wimpishness has invaded conservative discourse. The fearfulness over terrorism; the cringing and doom-struck hand-wringing over a health insurance reform that, despite what you may think of it, actually does NOT establish death camps and a new form of totalitarian socialism.

Now, when you say liberals have a "mental disorder," you are either making a literal, factual claim about them that happens to be false. Or, you're borrowing a weary, dead metaphor from a radio talk show host -- one that wasn't even all that funny or insightful the first ten million times it was used.

As for Biden's gaffes: they are fun to laugh at. He deserves the ribbing he gets for them. I'm not sure it's the worst quality a man could have -- to speak awkwardly and clumsily. So I guess I'm not seeing this as the supreme moral failure eminent and virtuous men like yourselves judge it to be.

And perhaps Biden should be chided for this sort of thing.
I'm afraid I just don't see the high moral stakes here. There are 18 million unemployed people in this country; our soldiers are fighting in at least two countries. Our infrastructure is in tatters after decades of neglect. We've got more important things to worry about than whether the Vice President says a cuss-word.
Unless you work in a Sunday school, you're going to have to deal with the fact that men use coarse language sometime. I say you need to get yourself a thicker skin and toughen up.

Ever hear Herman Cain on the subject of arguing with a lib? Spot on. The big mistake we make as conservatives is in thinking that they care whether their position is right or wrong, or about exercising common sense. That's why it gets so frustrating. Don't waste your time. Their only power is in heightening emotion, helping the masses justify mooching, etc. We can't assume that our politicians care about the future of our country anymore. They are about power, and we have to start holding their feet to the fire. They are our employees. They are spending OUR money on this stuff.
