In the first Gallup
daily tracking poll to include three days of interviews
following the news that President Obama won the Nobel Peace
Prize, his approval rating has shot up to 56 percent, with just
36 percent disapproving. This is the best net approval number for
him in the poll since July. Before the Nobel announcement, his
ratings stood at 53 percent approving and 40 percent disapproving
-- meaning there's been a net swing of 7 points since Friday.
In late September, Obama's ratings had reached as bad as 50
precent approval and 42 percent disapproval.

Polls you guys keep throwing out are meaningless.
The real question becomes seeminglycloser and closer to... "How
many bullets do you own?"
Would you guys try to catch up with reality there at amspec?
C'mon people! Do you think these scumbags care about polls... "WE
don't need any STEENKING POLLS!"
Gallup tracker is of adults, not registered or likely voters.
Rassmusen tracker surveys likelies and has Obama at 49. Rasmussen
was also a lot more accurate than Gallup in the last election.

I'm shocked to see this "bounce" reported here at American
Spectator: it seems like you guys usually concentrate on negative
news.
But then again I suppose you VIEW it as negative that some people
appreciate -- even if they're somewhat puzzled by -- the award.
Count me among this group.
I'm definitely NOT with Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and the
Taliban on this one.
Liberal Chowderhead| 10.12.09 @ 6:37PM
The Gallup poll of "adults" includes the most most ignorant
segments of the population, so naturally they would be impressed
by Obama winning a "prize," even if it's effectively a prize for
undermining the United States, awarded by a bunch of feckless
Euro-socialists. Fortunately, prizes can't stand in the way of
facts for too long.
Interested Conservative| 10.12.09 @ 6:53PM
Just imagine what his approval ratings will be when he's
appointed to the Supreme Court!

Obama won the Prize. That's all that's gotten through the noggins
of some. It's those noggins that could result in Obama's second
term.
Liberal Reader| 10.12.09 @ 8:48PM
Rush Limbaugh, the Taliban, and Al Quaeda are WRONG when they
argue that Obama shouldn't have received this prize.
Obama has returned the U.S.A. -- the most powerful nation on
earth -- to multilateral institutions in both the economic and
geo-political spheres.
Thus, our prestige -- that is, the generosity with which people
are willing to interpret our actions -- has greatly improved,
increasing our bargaining power and our "soft" power generally.
In the end, ALL power is soft power: you really have power when
all you have to do is ask.
If you have to bomb someone to get them to do what you want to
do, you are constrained by them.
johan berger| 10.13.09 @ 8:34AM
American prestige has dwindled since Obama began his Tour of
Apologetia when he retained the impression that his was not to
represent the US, but merely to whip it and kick it!
All Obama has gotten back for his Kick Me/Us attitude is more
clenched fists - from Cuba, Russia(no quid pro quo re missile
launchers), The West Bank, N-Korea AND Iran.. Obama does not know
how to mix military might with aid or developing the Third World
because he does not GOVERN!
All power is soft? How does that work, and if so, why are
liberals afraid of law abiding peaceful citizens owning guns, and
why do lefty protests suggest much more of a physical threat than
the recent tea party protests? There wasn't any brick throwing,
tear gas etc. for a larger group of tea party goers than for the
recent G-20 event.
That is why health care and cap and trade will pass, tea party
goers are really not suggesting anything other than bending over
and taking it up the tailpipe until next year, and then maybe,
just maybe they will still be mad enough to vote the bums out.
Pelosi tried the scary right wing thing, and it didn't even go
over very big in the MSM.
No, tea party people are peaceful, trying to use soft power.
While I admire them and support them, they are outsiders without
the threat of force.
If only handing out a prize were the simple way to induce world
peace. If everybody cannot get a prize, like all good outcome
based ideas, how will this peace thing work? Miss America has
always found the world peace thing difficult, we'll have to see
if Mr. America can get it done.
