Obama's Bottom Line

I was looking back at the transcript of President Obama's February news conference, and I thought it would be interesting to remind people what he saw at the time as the primary point of the stimulus package:

My bottom line is to make sure that we are saving or creating 4 million jobs....

So my bottom line when it comes to the recovery package is send me a bill that creates or saves 4 million jobs....

But my bottom line is, are we creating 4 million jobs, and are we laying the foundation for long- term economic growth?...

Later, the following exchange took place:

QUESTION: -- how can the American people gauge whether or not your programs are working?

Can they -- should they be looking at the metric of the stock market, home foreclosures, unemployment? What metric should they use? When? And how will they know if it's working or whether or not we need to go to a Plan B?

MR. OBAMA: I think my initial measure of success is creating or saving 4 million jobs. That's bottom line number one, because if people are working, then they've got enough confidence to make purchases, to make investments. Businesses start seeing that consumers are out there with a little more confidence. And they start making investments, which means they start hiring workers.

So step number one, job creation.

Over 2.7 million jobs have been lost since Obama signed the economic stimulus bill.

Last night, Bill O'Reilly asked the usually astute Neil Cavuto if he thought Obama was incompetent and Neil said no. Love Cavuto but I beg to differ.

Maybe Neil just didn't want to tick off the White House any more than Fox already has.

For those looking for employment during these troubled times, research is key to landing the right job. Many publications show different categories for the best companies to work for. Also, another worthwhile site is SalaryFor.com http://www.salaryfor.com/
which has a huge database of actual salaries that companies are paying for different positions as well as career advice and job listings. You can post your own salary or view others for free.

Hi Daisy
Neil is VERY astute. One of the brightest guys on TV...ever.
I did not see the show.
Did Bill throw him a curveball to trip him?

I do know Neil's opinion though concerning Obama and crew. He thinks they are doing all this harmful stuff...ON PURPOSE...not from incompetency.
He has remarked that they are lying "incompetently".

O'Reilly asked Neil a direct question and I think it caught him off-guard. You may be right about the 'incompetence' angle, but I don't think Neil had time to compute that. I love Neil; what a brave and noble soul, funny, too!

Beck's no slouch, either--he's VERY smart. He scares the heck out of me because I know he's right. I think dunderhead O'Reilly is coming around, too.
