ACORN turns out to be everything I said it was and more! Today it was defunded.

Hilarious!

Well done MV! It is hilarious!

Sadly, they made their mark in the last election cycle, but there is now "hope" going forward and it is largely to your credit. Keep up the good work.

Angel| 9.17.09 @ 7:28PM

Congratulations, Matt.

ed sonner| 9.17.09 @ 8:13PM

Bertha really did not want to tell him where the crack was. too bad he didn't ask where the underage prostitutes were.

Matthew Vadum | 9.17.09 @ 9:53PM

Damn, ed! It slipped my mind. If only I'd known. :)

Liberal Reader is vewy vewy angwy with me on another threat. Poor baby.

Matthew Vadum | 9.17.09 @ 9:54PM

Thread, I mean. Freudian slip? Nah.

ConservativeWanderer | 9.17.09 @ 10:41PM

I wouldn't worry too much about LR, Matt (though I doubt you really are).

He knows his side is losing badly, so he's just lashing out. Kinda like your typical little kid.

Angel| 9.17.09 @ 10:49PM

Yeah, a little kid who is getting his butt beat--BAD!!

Hooray for our side. Hooray for America!!

Nick| 9.17.09 @ 11:45PM

We should all send Jon Stewart a dead crow and a fork and knife!

Deborah D | 9.18.09 @ 5:59AM

Mr. Vadum -- Bravo! Perhaps Jon Stewart feels a bit guilty about his endorsement of the community organizer in chief now that he's finally finding out what community organizing (at least in the ACORN sense) actually entails.

S.L. Toddard| 9.18.09 @ 7:24AM

Results 1 - 10 of about 217 from spectator.org for "goldman sachs".

Results 1 - 10 of about 6,140 from spectator.org for "ACORN"

For the first time ever, I can agree with you...
primarily because I can't understand you.

Austin Scott| 9.18.09 @ 11:06AM

The older piece was a pure political advertisement. The newer one fails to follow through on the implications.

If one adds to this Bertha Lewis' advertisement calling on people in NY to vote for Obama on the Working Families Party line and Obama saying to an ACORN convention that he's been “fighting alongside Acorn on issues you care about my entire career” -- dynamite.

Grzmlyk| 9.18.09 @ 11:44AM

Ken, I think what our reality-challenged troll is trying to say is that we benighted Spectator readers find the ACORN story more compelling than the "real" story, which the Turd has decreed is the Goldman Sachs meme. And that proves what simpering dolts we are.

Don't you READ your decrees? HELLO, the Turd took the trouble to come down from the mountain to tell you what to think, you little ingrate.

The Turd's sole purpose in life is to prove to - well, we don't know who, exactly - what demagoguery-sucking twits we who read the Spectator, we who comprise the common rabble are. That would be those of us who live in the real world, away from the putative climes of onanistic academia.

We are unworthy, Oh Most Excretory Turd and I, for one, bow before you fecalness and lie prostrate before the sulfur-spewing sandcastles in air that you, in your beneficence (and far too much spare time) have created for the sole, selfless purpose of the intellectual succor of those who are so, so far beneath you.

Your Craptitude, sir, if we prove unworthy, might I humbly suggest you could still get your rocks off by declaring yourself King of Bacteria? They're more docile subjects, and I think will be more impressed with the effluvium of your (digestive) tracts.

Or perhaps there's an opening for Lord High Mayor over at Dunghill City. I think I saw that on Craig's list.

Sheesh. Try to help your run-of-the-mill self-appointed god and they get all uppity, just like the Emperor Jones or Michelle Obama.

Anyhoo, Ken, the Turd has spoken, and the Turd has ruled that ACORN is small potatoes; a sex slave here, a thoroughly corrupt culture there, dirty hands all over the Census, billions of YOUR DOLLARS slopped into its trough right up until even the MSM couldn't ignore it (and don't think ACORN and its minions are going to go away - they'll be back in a new guise) – and you rabid right-wing morons think that’s worthy of some attention.

Tut, tut, Ken, old boy. As a faux conservative (for so it is written by the Turd) you can only think of one thing at a time, and the Turd tells us that one thing Shall Evermore be the corruption that the Goldman Sachs story line conjures (don't tell the Turd, but I can hold two different news lines in my consciousness simultaneously. SHHHHH).

There's nothing to see with ACORN, you right-wing ideologues; you tiny, tinny whiners who can never know the splendor of bathing in the pristine, coolly detached, non-partisan, infinitely-parsing, intellectually superior waters that the Turd swims in (never mind their pernicious habit of evaporating when the intense heat of reality intrudes).

ACORN IS NOT A BIG DEAL. IGNORE IT. I mean, it's not like our president WORKED for ACORN, after all.

No need to thank me, Turd, oh Arch Duke of Self Regard, Crown Prince of Intellectual Foppery and Court Jester to the Ivory Tower.

As ever your loyal subject,

Grzmlyk

Angel| 9.18.09 @ 1:12PM

Ha ha ha ha! You crack me up everyday.

Angel| 9.18.09 @ 1:43PM

Hmmm. Upon further reflection, Grzmlyk; your clever bathroom humor left me mildly nauseated and Pete's put me over the top. I feel like I'm in second grade again.

Toddard elicits the same response.

Pete| 9.18.09 @ 12:02PM

You could have just called him a liberal douchebag, but I enjoyed the GI humor all the same.

Grzmlyk| 9.18.09 @ 12:16PM

I've been influenced by the federal government, Pete: Why settle for two words when 500 will do?

Besides, the turd is NOT a liberal: He calls himself a TRUE conservative, didn't you know? Aren't you acquainted with unbiased intellectual purity? He's the sole beacon in that dark night of faux-conservative ignorance.

Of course today he calls himself a conservative.

Tomorrow he may well be an egg salad sandwich. At least then he'd have some, you know, purpose in life. And best of all, he'd wind up fulfilling his ultimate calling, which is to end up swirling in a water treatment facility somewhere near Yonkers.

Grzmlyk| 9.18.09 @ 12:21PM

BTW, Turd, you're a liberal douchebag.

Pete| 9.18.09 @ 12:23PM

A shiny corn-backed anaconda, slithering about amongst the schools of finless brown trout in the Yonkers facility. Yes, I could see that. And I am well aware of the Turd's "Bob-ish" tendencies, in fact I often wonder how I would go on without their wisdom.

Curtis Rasmussen| 9.18.09 @ 12:52PM

Matt,

I'm sure the MSM will try to dissuade conservatives from going to the polls in 2010 with their 'unbiased' but narrowly focused reports. They will neglect the confiscatory actions of politicians to the detriment of the electorate.

Keep up the good work, at least your blinders are off.

Grzmlyk| 9.18.09 @ 12:54PM

"Corn-backed anaconda."

Gross, but I liked it. Maybe we should call him "the Kernel" from now on.

Pete| 9.18.09 @ 1:02PM

Read this MSM article and tell me if you can detect any bias.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/200.....rvatives_1

The fact that conservatives are gaining any ground in the face of crap like this is truly encouraging. My favorite paragraph is this:

"Conservative activists see exploitable opportunities in Obama's policies and performance that also can stir more centrist voters, such as suspicions of "big government" and the almost uniquely American skepticism of global warming that prevails in much of the heartland."

Grzmlyk| 9.18.09 @ 2:20PM

By the way, Angel, I do apologize.

I do not wish to gross you or anyone out.

I do, however, think Toddard, Bob and other "conservatives" - are very, very bad for conservatism, and the height to which they would elevate themselves on the backs of Spectator readers equals the depth to which they actually descend.

I only use such imagry because I think it is so appropriate, if nasty. Empty, self-aggrandizing intellectualism is what got America into this mess - the elitism of Wilson, FDR, JFK's "Best and Brightest," Carter, Clinton (until he was neutered) and now Obama.

God save us from those who are so impressed with themselves that they worship only at the altar of vanity - at the expense of all else.

No matter how hard they try, they cannot escape the humanity they share with the rest of us.

:-)

Angel| 9.18.09 @ 4:41PM

Grzmlyk, I know it's not you. I would rather not stoop to the level of some of these garbage mongers, even if it's necessary sometimes. It's just not the way I choose to look at life, you know?

You're still funny as hell, though. ;p

Have a great weekend.

Angel| 9.18.09 @ 4:42PM

"The Kernel." ROTFL!!

Grzmlyk| 9.18.09 @ 5:22PM

You too, Angel! You brightened my day!

ConservativeWanderer | 9.18.09 @ 5:56PM

Well, according to the author of The Death of Conservatism, Sam Tanenhaus, the real "genius" of the late great William F. Buckley, Jr. (WFB to us real conservatives) was that he made liberals better. (see link at bottom of comment)

My guess is that S. L. and Bob would both agree wholeheartedly with that concept.

Rolfe| 9.18.09 @ 10:52PM

Matthew,

We're still laughing at you.

Matthew Vadum | 9.19.09 @ 9:09PM

Well, ACORN is crying, Rolfe. We'll see who has the last laugh in the end. If you want to keep defending and condoning the criminal syndicate ACORN, you go right ahead. Knock yourself out, kiddo.

Angel| 9.18.09 @ 11:20PM

Don't think so, Rolfey: Even Jay Leno is showing skits that feature ACORN as the butt of his jokes. Crack hos and pimps: This is YOUR DEMOCRAT party.

How does ridicule feel when it's directed at you, low rent troll?

ConservativeWanderer | 9.18.09 @ 11:31PM

Oh, let the Rolfe-Troll laugh. He'll be crying in his fancy imported bottled water soon enough, Angel.
