Sometimes news is stranger that fiction. Lisa Rasmussen, who represents the extremely partisan ACORN, said that election fraud charges laid against the group in Nevada are motivated by politics, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

“The politically motivated charges, such as those brought by the attorney general and secretary of state, just highlight the voter registration system that is broken,” Rasmussen said in a Las Vegas courtroom.

Except that the charges (PDF) against two former ACORN executives and ACORN, which helps to register Democratic voters and get them to the polls, were unveiled by Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto and Secretary of State Ross Miller both of whom are Democrats. Allegheny County, Pa., District Attorney Stephen Zappala Jr., who filed seven charges against former ACORN workers for falsifying voter registration forms, also happens to be a Democrat.

Maybe ACORN will cry racism now. Oh wait, Amy Busefink and Chris Edwards, the former ACORN officials in Nevada also charged with voter registration fraud, are Caucasian according to the photo accompanying the Las Vegas Review-Journal news report.

The defendants, who appeared before a Las Vegas magistrate today, are expected to appear in court next on July 15.

"ACORN Claims Democratic Officials Are Persecuting It"

Yeah. Because ACORN (National Union of Town Stalinists) has supported so, so many Republican candidates, huh?

It's SO funny to watch the La Cosa Acorn soldiers (nuts, I call them) scurry for cover like cockroaches when their nefarious activities are brought to light. Now we need a political Orkin Man to exterminate these bugs for good. Fat chance of that with their shills in both houses of Congress & the White House, but one can "hope" for "change" in that area soon, can't they?

Surely a judge with "empathy" will understand that, though they aren't 'diverse' themselves, they were trying to help diversity with their criminal activities and should therefore go unpunished.

The fact that Acorn has/is being given government/taxpayer funds to REGISTER potential voters is insanely ludicrous-----what, these morons aren't motivated [by patriotism etc] enough to fill out registration forms on their own and need these partisan organizations to PUMP THEM UP? Maybe there is free governmental [again taxpayer funded] cigarettes, liquor, etc being provided UNDER THE TABLE. If so, no doubt, the recipients of such largesse vote INDEPENDENTLY as well, I'm sure. Instead of funding same, the government should close down Acorn and Rainbow Push, and possibly throw their officials in jail!!!!

Those Obamacorns will be flooding the State of Georgia in 2010 with the recent decision of the US Attorney Generals Office to overturn three federal court decisions for the State’s Accurate Voter ID Act.

I’m turning BLUE just thinking about it.

Couple that with the US Attorney Generals Office decision to drop charges and not prosecute the Philadelphia New Black Panthers wielding clubs, wearing jackboots and shouting racial slurs against whites in front of polling stations.

Just imagine when the Acorn intellectual elite geniuses complete their precision-based data for the 2010 Census it’ll be hallelujah time for the Democratics.

Matt... Is it just me? Somehow I get the whiff that these two are being hung out as a diversion, for the brand impression that somehow ACORN is accountable and thus harmless... that the problem is "being handled."

Sorry man. I learned in New York City that if you see two cockroaches, you have a truly major infestation.

Be an environmentalist - bury an ACORN nut.

The Acorn does not fall far from the tree. Who is the tree? I see this group as a military style cult. It makes me shutter to think (if they are allowed) what they will become in our daily lives if they are not stopped dead in their tracks. Anyone out there who has the journalistic guts to put his/her profession on the line? Start unravelling this story! Expose the lies with some facts! Fulfill your oath. Do your job! It is a now or never moment.

With the investigation going on, I hope it brings out the names of those who have used it over the years for their elections. Hilliary Clinton's name come to mind and then we have the ones who are afraid of going against ACORN, for instance, Chucky Schumer and George Pataki. Large amounts of money is involved in Politics and George Soros names is mentioned in articles with ACORN.
We have to be aware of what this Political Organization can do and we have seen it with Obama getting elected. The census is going to be where the Democrats can move the lines in their districts. More fraud.
We can't let them take the election in 2010 and 2012 the way they did in 2008. Be ready.

As the ACORN mess becomes clear and people go to jail, Obama will try to distance himself from the fraud. He will need to keep people silent, who know about his close ties to ACORN. I will be watching for payoffs, special jobs and appointments to see how much is really there. Politicians seem to get in more trouble hiding their past activities, than in the illicit activity themselves.
This whole mess will play out over time and there should be enough mud to stick to all of those involved. I look forward to seeing how deep the mess may be.

Good Lord, Obama destroyed GM and Chrysler to pay off his union cronies--what won't this megalomaniac do?

Joan| 9.23.09 @ 12:34AM

ACORN ideals are noble. Put humans in charge of anything and some of them will ruin it (no matter how nice the idealogy) and turn it into something greedy. I know for a fact Chris Edwards was trying to run an honest campaign to get poor people to the polls. He had no idea (because he was told, taught, encouraged by ACORN) that something legal in most states was in fact illegal here in NV (providing bonuses in addition to salaries to canvassers who did a better job then other canvassers of getting people register to vote). He did not know the full extent of corruption within ACORN until he was thrown under the bus by them. Once someone's eyes are open, you can't close them to the truth, and therefore Chris must now testify against ACORN. Goodluck and praise be to the righteous.

fred| 9.23.09 @ 12:39AM

None of this is about race - it's about poor vs. insanely rich (people who usually step on other people to get higher)
