Siegelman Still Guilty

A three-judge panel of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld the five of the seven counts of the conviction against crooked former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman. I wrote about this case in numerous blog posts last year. Here's one of them. The internal link is wrong somehow, it should lead to THIS MOST IMPORTANT ONE. And this full story on the case.

Oddly enough, I have met Siegelman only a very few times. But each time I met him, he looked me in the eye and told me a bald-faced lie. Just sayin....

Surprise, surprise, surprise! More Democrat corruption.

A. Bunker| 3.7.09 @ 1:54PM

You said it CH. Democrat corruption is so widespread, it's hard to know where it ends.

When was the last time anyone heard of a Republican politician getting caught in some squalid affair?

Democrats have cornered the market on corruption for so long that no one can even remember a time when a Republican was found wanting in any way.

Republicans have been blameless and innocent victims of smear campaigns for decades, never having once done anything to merit the slightest suspicion that they may not be above even the appearance of unethical behavior.

It's too bad people in the "media" don't recognize this and look for evil in its natural home: the Democrat Party.

Bugler| 3.7.09 @ 3:01PM

Thou doth protest too much, Bunkie.

CH| 3.7.09 @ 7:40PM

And you liberals stink with corruption, bugler boy.

Interloper| 3.7.09 @ 8:37PM

So, there will be more appeals. The defendant is fortunate enough to be able to afford them, and, excellent representation.

Speaking of felons, one must wonder where Quinn Hillyer's lamentations about former Alaska Republican Sen. Ted Stevens are. That's the most reprehensible case of political malfeasance of the year, so why isn't it being discussed?

CH| 3.7.09 @ 10:00PM

Shall we discuss the Rogues' Gallery that is Obama's Cabinet, Interloper? Tax cheats, liars and thieves--and he hasn't even finished his selections yet. We should appoint a Special Counsel just to investigate your whole party--you stink to high heavens with corruption; including this democrat crook, Siegelman.

ConservativeWanderer| 3.8.09 @ 10:36AM

I don't often toot my own horn here (aside from the link in my username), but Interloper's comment on Stevens inspired me to point out that at least one conservative was calling for his removal from the Senate several months ago:

http://conservativewanderer.wordpress.com/2008/11/09/stevens-must-go/

And expressing happiness when he did end up losing:

http://conservativewanderer.wordpress.com/2008/11/18/ted-stevens-has-lost/

But why let the facts get in the way of a good smear, right, Interloper?

Quin| 3.8.09 @ 9:13PM

Interloper, don't challenge somebody unless you know what you are talking about. For the record, I wrote this editorial: http://www.sfexaminer.com/opinion/33477339.html.
That's pretty tough on Stevens. So there.

CH| 3.8.09 @ 11:13PM

Yeah! That'll fix you, Looper. Hope springs eternal. Republicans punish their crooks, Democrats pop the Champagne cork.

Interloper| 3.9.09 @ 12:57AM

My question is: Why haven't there been any articles critical of former Republican Sen. Ted Stevens at the American Spectator? People who've not been accused of any crimes, for example adviser to the President Valerie Jarrett, have been attacked in pieces at the AS. So why is the site mumb about Stevens?

CH| 3.9.09 @ 1:18AM

As the president's adviser, Jarett wields more power than Stevens, and also, she's in power now. Why is she only an adviser, Loopy? Perhaps because she COULDN'T get confirmed by the Senate? She sounds pretty darn dirty to me. But, of course, she's been a Chicago political cesspool player, so we know that's a given. Don't we?

ConservativeWanderer| 3.9.09 @ 8:31AM

No critical articles, Interloper? You need to remove the lefty blinders.

http://spectator.org/archives/2005/03/28/half-baked-alaska

Just more evidence that you have no idea what the blazes you're talking about.

Basil Plumley| 3.9.09 @ 9:42AM

@ ConservativeWanderer

Lest you forget, Interloopy won't read anything unless it has lots of pictures. Like Chauncey Gardiner, Interloopy likes to watch.

Come to think of it, Chauncey Gardiner is a great nickname for Obama. Folks like the Interloper think Obama is great but he is only a gardener.

ConservativeWanderer| 3.9.09 @ 9:50AM

Very true, Basil, but since I am home from work today with a bad ankle, I gotta do something to keep myself occupied.

Mind you, searching AmSpec's archives for "Ted Stevens" didn't take all that long... I'm sure if Interloper understood the concept behind "searching" and "archives" he'd have done it himself. Alas for Interloper, for him history began 20 January 2009, all else is irrelevant.

ruth| 3.9.09 @ 6:41PM

CW, you hurt your ankle, too? Are you a weekend warrior? My ankle is so screwed up, I have to tape it with duct tape in order to run. Not real good lookin' but it works!
