Enemy of the Week

Change Is Here

A Ramadan Dinner edition of an Obama audition.

A major debate is under way. Is President O more like James Earl Carter or William Jefferson Clinton? Matt Labash’s favorite subject, Roger Stone, makes a picture-perfect case for the former. Greta V.S.’s most valuable guest, Byron York, captures O’s resemblance to the latter. Where do the Solomons of Enemy Central come down? Naturally, on both sides, though in so doing tipping the advantage to Clinton, our founding father of triangulation, forever adopting two ways in order to get away with a third.

So what’s O’s angle? He was for the Mosque before he was against it by being for it. For once there is more hope here than chump change. Until recently, the concern was that should our ruling president’s confreres lose control of the Congress come November, he won’t have the smarts and dexterity of his nineties predecessor to triangulate himself out of the electoral disaster his first two years have wrought. It’s good to know might.

Of course, his idea of triangulation could rely on a model closer to his heart. Wasn’t it Dr. Marx who made Hegel’s thesis, antithesis, and synthesis a staple of community organizing? Nonetheless, triangulation will represent political progress in O’s case, a great improvement on the strangulation model that has heretofore monopolized his and our attentions.

It will require him to mend his ways, we can assume. His revival of busing, for instance, has to end. No, not the outdated practice of transferring students across district and county lines in the name of diversity outreach and gun- and drug-free school zones. In O’s case we mean his alleged practice of throwing people under buses, causing not only alignment damage, irregular tire wear, and other problems for the equipment, but skyrocketing health care and insurance costs for those who’ve been rolled upon.

So for starters he will have to be much nicer to dear Joe Biden. No more talk of replacing Joe on the ticket with Hillary. Who will bail him out next Memorial Day at Arlington cemetery? Or travel clandestinely on July 4 to Baghdad? Who will emerge as the voice of relative competence next time everyone else is hiding in the hills? Who will serve the suds at the next Beer Summit?

Next, O will have to promise that on his next birthday he won’t play happy bachelor, hangin’ with LeBron & Co. at the gym while his first lady is checking out the rain in Spain. The NBA has supposedly been cleaning up its act. Maybe it’s high five time he did too.

Finally, he’ll have to take his deep commitment to principle that the Mosque debate has revealed and spread the wealth around. Here’s where it’ll really get interesting. Let’s cut to the chase, as we observe his supple mind at work, albeit in the third person, but understandably so, given triangulation’s three-corner offense:

“Obamacare? Who cares? Can’t afford it. If there’s appeal in repeal, O can be for that too. Obamacare, after all, has broader connotations. It means O cares for the state of the economy, for public concerns, for quality and accessibility, for finding genuine, market-friendly, job-creating, private-option solutions to problems only worsened by government’s cold and heavy hand.”

Now that was easy, wasn’t it? As he said at the White House the other day to those applauding his every word, and maybe to his all-time favorite NBA player as well, Ramadan Kareem.

I grew up in the inner city N.Y.C. I am also Puerto Rican. A natural born American just in case for those out there who do not know the difference. I just spoke to a cousin of mine living in NYC and asked her what the difference is between Democrats and Republicans. She said and I quote "Dems are for the people" and 'Republicans are for big bussiness".....Wow I told my self! She is not the sharpest knife in the drawer but far from the dullest. If she did not know the true difference then how many others don't?
I think the only way to correct this dumbing down of America is by closing the Board of Education. Let each state run it's own program. Get classes in government, history and the constitution back in schools(Unbiased). Stop worrying that some children might not have condoms on them(in the fifth grade). No sex education for children. When you stop worrying about teaching each children everything possible you can get back to the basics.
We should keep our basic Judeo Christian morals and ethics for a baseline so we do not lose our way in this place called America.

"Clinton, our founding father of triangulation"

If you really want to look back to the '90s, you might see how Bush 41 was the immediate precursor.

Alan Brooks| 8.18.10 @ 10:29AM

... Clinton defeated a weak candidate in '92 (not to mention '96).
Obama defeated a weak candidate in '08

Al Adab| 8.18.10 @ 11:56AM

Don't forget that Bush 41 opposed Reagan to the bitter end in 1980. Don't forget that Cheny and Rumsfeld opposed Reagan and backed Ford in 76.

The problem with the Republican party is best defined by Ed Gillespie, hand picked by Bush 43 to be chairman of the RNC, Gillespie said, "Today the Republican Party stands for giving the American people whatever the latest polls say they want. " "The people want expanded entitlement programs and a federal government that attends their every, no matter how frivolous? Then that's what the Republican party wants too."

The quote is from Craig Shirleys excellent "Rendevou8s with Destiny. Dick armey who is at least one spokesman for the Tea Party movement stated the other day in the Wall Street Journal, that the T-Party relationship with the GOP is more like a hostile takeover than an accommodation. Let it be so.

The get along wing of the GOP has betrayed the electorate too many times. They were given the chance in 96 but dropped the ball after 2000 with 06 and 08 the clear result. Unless a spinal transplant is coming to the GOP, their failure to stand for something leaves them standing for nothing and America facing a long dark night of tyranny.

That guy was right--how come you always double post?

dillon1340| 9.25.10 @ 4:03PM

That's funny you said "Dems are for the people, Republicans are for big businesses", I remember that's what my grandfather used to say. Don't worry I think most informed people are realizing that the Democrats are for themselves, not the people.

Appleby| 8.18.10 @ 7:06AM

The only reason to listen to this clown is to find out how far he can go next time. In time he will become the second president who won in a landslide but whom nobody will admit to voting for.

figus janus| 8.18.10 @ 7:08AM

I forgot my summary. This would ensure this shrinks the ranks of Democrats voter base. This in turn gives less chance for idiots like our President Barrack Hussein Obama from ever coming to office again.

drudge ette obama| 8.18.10 @ 7:16AM

No soup and no triangulation for Obama - this cool & skinny cat is out of the bag and there are too many people out there who will notice (and remark) on the ebb and flow of Obama as he goes from fanatical progressive to Zell Miller.

Michelle Obama's version of triangulation will go from vacationing in Spain on the tax payers' dole to Dollyworld via bus. Michelle O. won't trump up a phony state visit so to deflect the personal costs to public taxpayer underwriting because Dolly is only country royalty. That will be Michelle O's sacrifice, like when she had to pay for her own student loans and when she had to travel to promote Chocago's Olympic bid. And look for another ugly ultra wide belt made from used tires (American made, of course) to adorn another too-tight J. Crew sweater set and shift outfit.

Obama will never triagulate like Bill Clinton. The reason? Obama is a True Believer fanatic, Bill Clinton is a political opportunist - two entirely different animals.

Al Adab| 8.18.10 @ 12:09PM

You hit the nail on the head. This President is a "true believer" in the sense that Eric Hoffer used the word in his writtings of the same title. Nothing can turn him from his path or dissuade him from his goal. Remember he promised to "fundamentally remake America". ...And we still voted for him?

Oldefarte| 8.18.10 @ 11:01AM

He is neither similar to Carter, Clinton, or to any other normal, semi-rational politician. He is simply Barack Obama, and, being such, he simply does not care of the outcomes of his idolistic policies/procedures upon the lives of the people of this country. He is an EXTREME NARCISSIST who believes that his popularity will overcome any adversity cause by his extreme political positions. He will not adjust to his current poll decreasing numbers or to the upcoming Republican slaughter over Democrats in November. He simply does not care that he is selling his fellow Democrats down the toilet from his extremism. The Democratic Party should perhaps be felt sorry for, but the American taxpayers [not all people] are fed up and disgusted with the creeping radical extremism that has exploded into the candidacy and presidency of Obama. He is way beyond liberal, he is a dangerous extremist [and America is/was stupid for not realizing that until now]!!!!

scotchieguy| 8.19.10 @ 4:04AM

"The democrat party should be felt sorry for." I never thought I would agree w/ that statement. The party of Tom Harkin, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, the Clintons, John F*cking Kerry who served in Viet Nam, Algore, Al Franken, etc. They should be felt sorry for??? That is how messed up the kick-ass prez has made things. Geeeeez! Someone wake me from this nightmare.

geokster from TX| 8.18.10 @ 12:04PM

This guy, (I won't call him my president), and his family are apparently embarked on a very lavish 4 year vacation,,, on the taxpayer's dime~!

Everyone should remember in November.

Anita| 8.19.10 @ 6:35AM

The Obama's intend to operate without any constraints, including the weight of truth, reason or oath of office, and beyond the crticism of concerned citizens. Any opposition to their conduct or policies are immediately denounced by a complicit press and political disciples as "racist". Like most politicians and their subsequent policies at the federal level, this affirmative action presidency works wastefully, corruptly, and arrogantly.

Steve A| 8.18.10 @ 12:47PM

Hey Geokster, The longer this dude stays on vacation the better. I think he should taks a 2 year vaca to Mecca. As long as he is on vaca he is limited in his ability to continue to destroy the country.

silverpoodle| 8.20.10 @ 3:01AM

PAY attention to his zsars !! They do not have to account to congress or the people!!

Mojo Risin| 8.18.10 @ 3:40PM

The schmuck should continue his eternal vacation, go to the finest golf courses, retain top flight golf instruction, maybe take-up fly fishing and vacation in South America, catch some of those big browns. Invest about 6 weeks in this endeavor, take an additional two weeks off, AND THEN QUIT!!!

scotchieguy| 8.19.10 @ 4:07AM

No, what he should do is pretend to be Nixon. Take up bowling, and take many, many, many lessons--heh heh heh...that ought to take care of the rest of his term. 38? Not possible.

Michael Tomlinson| 8.18.10 @ 4:56PM

Say NO to the Muslim "Trojan Horse" in NYC.

Dean from Ohio| 8.18.10 @ 8:09PM

Move along, folks. No wisdom to see here.

Cow Rie| 8.18.10 @ 10:36PM

If, and I mean IF, Conservatives control the House and Senate after November, Obama the Petulant will demagogue more, attack more, and screw us all with executive fiat. He is arrogant and spiteful. Even to Special Olympic kids.

Mark| 8.19.10 @ 10:49AM

Wow, no wonder the right is in such turmoil. The comments here only serve to underline the fact that the conservatives have nothing to offer in the way of solutions or rational debate and only tend to diminish themselves in the eyes of those who practice a more fundamental and pragmatic approach to the problems now facing our country. Your collective arguments boil down to the fact that you feel that there is a scary black guy in the White House, whine, whine and whine some more. If you cannot offer leadership of your own then don't pretend to be able to offer advice to those who are our leaders. You offer nothing, and you contribute even less. Your ideologies are repugnant to the vast majority of Americans and are the result of a decade of leaderless and inane, psychopathic policies that very nearly ruined this country. Accept the consequences of your decision to support the blithering idiot, George Bush, and either offer solutions or please, STFU.

silverpoodle| 8.20.10 @ 3:12AM

Obama's recent DEMOCRAT fund raising trip was for by ALL Americans, including every Republican and Independent. I didn't vote for my tax money to support their extended vacations [while they tell us to ecomomize] and to help raise funds for other Democrats!!

Michele San Pietro| 8.25.10 @ 5:59PM

Obama is a dangerous madman. Let's stop him before it is too late!
