But no sign I spotted at any Lipton-lobbing rant fest summed up
the nationwide sentiment like the one I saw on Fox News'
"Hannity" program Wednesday night from Atlanta.
The poster scribe could have condemned any other media
formerly known as mainstream. He (or a brash she) could have
written "MSNBC Sucks," but what's so bold about stating the
obvious? He could have scratched out "USA Today Sucks,"
for
promoting their love for big government, but the McPaper's
crosswords are pretty good. He could have stated "the
Journal-Constitution Sucks," but why disrespect the
dead?
Or he could have raised awareness about crappy individual
reporters like the Denver Post's
Mark Jaffe, or the Washington Post's
Kari Lydersen, or any New York Times journaleftist,
for they all inhale deeply. But they are too obscure.
Instead mallet mashed spike precisely in the Peach State capital,
where CNN Sucks resides. That the bold pronouncement was held
aloft where an aerial Fox camera could capture the sentiment was
perfect. Recent days have confirmed it:
• At 4:00 p.m. Thursday as the nation was still abuzz with the
tea party aftermath, the CNN Sucks homepage had zero (except for
their lame citizen iReports) stories about the
gatherings. Instead they featured an
oversized photo of Mrs. Bates with a story
about Mexican drug gangs.
• At the same time Cable sNooze Network highlighted its
Twitter war with That 70s Show star Ashton
Kutcher. How fitting that the actor won.
• And as April 15 approached former Clintonista Paul Begala
posted an inane, Biden-esque commentary
about how patriotic it is to pay taxes. "This country has
showered me with the blessings of liberty. So what do I owe my
country in return? Paying my fair share of taxes, it seems, is
the least I can do."
• Meanwhile empty-suited Anderson Cooper
fulfilled dreams of one-day fitting in with dreamboat Keith
Olbermann on MSNBC, as he cracked gay-themed "teabagger" jokes
about the events. Put this pair's viewer ratings together and
they might one day come close to Fox's 5:00 p.m. show hosted by
Glenn Beck.
And then there's reporter Susan Roesgen. I'd never heard of
anyone with that last name before – much less heard of you, Susan
Roesgen – but thank you so much for unveiling your scorn while
playing tea party in Chicago. You made yourself famous by
demonstrating
what a poor playmate you are and thus how much CNN really
does suck. You recited the JournoList
script admirably, but unfortunately for you pulled the short
straw at the assignment desk, and thus your performance was
judged before a nation of tax-resisting Simon Cowells. Sorry, no
save for you this week.
While activists exercised their outspokenness against big
spending, overtaxing, and over-regulating government, Susan
Roesgen (thumbs
up for Bush-Hitler;
thumbs down for Obama-Hitler), Anderson Teabagger and even
Ashton Kutcher helped them achieve a milestone that most of them
don't realize. It's that the media formerly known as mainstream
has seen its re-categorization completed. MSNBC, the New York
Times, and other mainstream outlets joined CNN Sucks in
either dissing or disregarding the tea party protests'
newsworthiness. They now belong with semi-known far left
publications such the Nation, Mother Jones, and
American Prospect.
(Since I've seen another "Deborah" on postings of late, I thought
I'd better add the "D" to my name from now on--I'm the original
Deborah, just FYI).
The Tea Parties have less to do with taxes than with outrageous
spending by the Congress (and the inability or unwillingness to
read the ridiculous bills they're signing) and a total disregard
for what this outrageous deficit and debt portends for the future
of our country and our children. Many fear we are losing our
country since Congress seems to be running amuck with no regard
for the people.
Most attenders, like myself, worry for our children. My sign
read: "Congressional spending enslaves our children to the
Chinese" on one side and "Congressional spending = ALL children
left behind."
Call us names, call us whatever you wish, but that won't deter
us. We see the future and the future does not look too bright. I
also saw many young people at the Atlanta Tea Party. By young, I
mean young adults in their teens and 20's and young families in
their 30's.
One sign by a girl who looked to be in her late teens to early
20s's read, "What's in your wallet? Oh, wait, that's my wallet."
A sign I saw online from (I believe it was Iowa) was held by a
college-aged girl. It said, "Why teach reading and math? Congress
doesn't use either."
Mark Steyn has an excellent piece worth the read. He asks, "Are
Americans subjects or citizens? If the latter, then a benign
sovereign should not be determining 'your interests' and then
announcing that he’s giving you a 'tax credit' as your pocket
money." Amen to that. You can read Steyn here:

What is really interesting is the sophomoric level of humour that
has escaped from Family Guy and South Park to infest what used to
be a news network (the animated series formerly known as CNN). If
anybody over there can read, perhaps it is time someone provided
the whole class with copies of Lord of the Flies, so that they
can see what happens when the children are left in charge. I was
at university with the parents of these brats, whose fondest
memory is of the day they took a whiz in the University
Presidents trash basket, and I hope they are satisfied at the
level of poo-poo-head humour they have spawned. Cant wait for the

Newsflash to Mr. Paine:
There will be NO tax cuts under Mr. Obama. Surely you are not so
naive as to take what he SAYS seriously; watch what he DOES,
instead. Taxes come in many shapes and sizes apart from the
income tax, from which most Obama supporters are exempt. A nickel
tossed to this fool will be replaced by quarter slipped from his
pocket via "cap and trade" or assorted hidden taxes.
Gut the spending, cut the taxes. Bad gummint, no bone for you.

Steve, noted this correctly, Obama gave us a nickel tax cut for
the sake of publicly touting that he gave us a tax cut.
Since we are all adults here and for he sake of reason, Democrats
haven't given Americans a real tax cut since JFK.
But, Liberals love to have the gotcha question or statement of,
"Obama, did give 95% of Americans a tax cut." That statement is
false because 40% percent of Americans pay taxes and the other
55% received free money that they didn't work for.
Long term, President Obama is economically enslaving millions of
unborn Americans, plain and simple.

What would have been the result if the Tea Party/Tax Day just
happened to be on a Saturday or Sunday? How many more citizens
would have attended? Mr. Paine misses a key point: Many
citizen/taxpayers do NOT want a rebate or any type of stimulus
check this year or next. Rather, stop the overall spending levels
and debt creation.
As for CNN, is it possible that as their audience dwindles more
people are becoming wiser? Ever look at their question of the day
and replies available to the reader? Now that is an insult to the
reader.
Andrew B.| 4.20.09 @ 8:17AM
I find the liberal talking point that protesters should shut up
because "they are getting a tax cut under Obama" to be
fascinating, if bizarre.
I don't care if, as the CNN "reporter" said, I will be getting
$400 back under the President's plan. Am I expected to sell out
my values and beliefs for that? I am a wicked, evil, greedy
conservative, but I can't be bought off for a tiny return of what
is, let us not forget, my own money to begin with.
Do liberals come so cheap? Aren't they supposed to be above such
petty, moneygrubbing ways?
If, as I believe, President Obama is headed in a blatantly
irresponsible and un-Constitutional way, should I shut up because
he will let me buy a new TV ?
Old Soldier| 4.20.09 @ 8:26AM
Tom Paine - Nobody with a job is getting a tax cut. Look up the
2000 tax table and compare to 2008, come back and apologize.
There are other kinds of taxes that will relieve us of our
wealth. Government spending will crowd out private business
investment - making us all poorer. When inflation really kicks
in, we'll all be poorer.
Anthony| 4.20.09 @ 9:19AM
If there was any doubt about MSM leftist bias and ecomomic
illiteracy, these tea-party events put the final nail in the
coffin to those carnards.
How rich it is to see these '60s influenced leftists suck up to
the likes of Mussolini's great-granddaughter, Ms. Napolitano, as
they impune fellow Americans, while they gladly goose-step to
Obama's cap & trade.
As to the pathetic Ms. Roesgen, who is at some undisclosed
location for therapy, probably where Paul Krugman goes, she and
the rest of the CNN morons need to understand that the stimulus
bill, that redistributes billions from us taxpayers, to reckless
spending state governors and legislatures, so they can continue
their profligate spending, is precisely what the tea party events
were trying to STOP.
As to Paul Begala, how many accountants does it take to keep a
lying leftist out of jail? Answer: It doesn't matter, they don't
get caught and if they do, they're too important.
America is in deep, deep trouble folks, as these leftist fools
have overtaken all our important institutions.
Thomas| 4.20.09 @ 9:48AM
The liberal collectivist faction in this country HAS to
marginalize the "tea parties". They represent what the left fears
the most, the verbalization of what used to be called the silent
majority. The get-togethers represent a non-centralized
grassroots up-swelling of citizen frustrations with a government
that appears to be totally unresponsive to their wishes and
desires. As it is unlikely that government, any government, will
listen; this feeling of frustration will increase until it
reaches a tipping point. For those on the liberal side, that is
really scary.
Hank Rearden| 4.20.09 @ 9:50AM
Thomas Paine,
How dare you use the name of a father of reason! Nevertheless,
you are incorrect. The people protesting are not getting a tax
cut, they're getting a welfare check (just like the one Bush
gave). A tax cut would be nice, then they could plan long term
and not simply pay off their cable bills. However, they'll need
more than a simple welfare check once utility rates go up to
cover cap and trade and their amount of deductions disappear. It
is important to note that the tea parties were more about
government waste than about taxes.

Tom Paine:
Much like the MSM, you completely missed the story. This was not
specifically about taxes, but instead about an increasingly
intrusive government that seeks to control us and our way of life
from cradle to grave.
There was a time when "liberals" distrusted government and valued
individual liberty and freedom above all else. But the modern day
liberal is in fact a statist who seeks refuge from all of life's
problems and thinks government can provide all the answers.
As for those middle class tax cuts, what will the impact of a few
extra dollars in your pocket be when Obama and the dems hit us
with cap and trade policies designed to drive the price of energy
sky high? When energy costs rise, what will that do to the cost
of commodities such as food? The list goes on and on.
It's fine to be a liberal, but open your eyes to what is going
on. Break your emotional attachment to Obama and for just once
undertake a purely intellectual examination of what he is doing
and intends to do. If you value individual liberty and freedom, I
think you might be truly frightened.

The "helpless": this includes the citizenry who must what, simply
stand by "helplessly" while the present government spends
taxpayers' dollars from here to eternity? There are countless
noble causes out there, from Tibet to the moon, and we are all
free to decide for ourselves which ones we will support. It is
repulsive to have some self-righteous person try to dictate to
others what they should care about.

If Obama goes through with his plans to tax carbon, everybody is
going to feel a huge tax increase, though it will not be on tax
forms. The cost of energy will double or triple for everyone. As
I told one of my students, yes we will get free health care but
the price of gasoline will be $10 a gallon.

Astroturf My Ass
April 18, 2009
We attended the rally in Austin on the 15th. It was fun, and we
were proud to be a part of this historical movement.
We have noticed two problems:
1. There should be NO political speakers at these rallies. These
are ‘The People’s’ rallies. As we see it, the politicians are the
problem, and we MUST get rid of them. ALL OF THEM.
2. Our tea parties were seen to be all about taxes by the main
street media. We weren’t out there just because of taxes and the
government’s spending. The signs we saw were all encompassing;
immigration, the borders, jobs, gun control, term limits, NAFTA,
ACORN, etc. It was about taking our government back and making it
work for us, we the people. We don’t want any part of the New
World Order (that’s where we take care of the rest of the world.
Hell, we can’t support ourselves). We should be through taking
care of the rest of the world. You can’t BUY friendship. Let’s
look out for the AMERICAN citizens for a change. HOW’S THAT FOR
CHANGE?
Pay attention all of you Astroturf builders, gun toting
hillbillies, and racists (labeled by the main stream media).
‘They’ say that we don’t count. We say “Let’s prove them wrong”.
Let’s prove to them that we do count. We suggest that on the 4th
of July weekend (the 3rd, 4th, and 5th), we, the taxpayers spend
no money. Not one dime. We don’t buy gas, food, clothing. No
sodas or chips, not even a beer for you rednecks. Yes that
includes LONESTAR! NADA! NOTHING! Got it?
We need a theme for our next rally. Bring a friend or two, leave
the politicians at home. This movement is addictive, after all.
THIS IS OUR COUNTRY!
Now, we could be wrong. But are we the only ones that have
noticed that Glenn and Hannity aren’t being team players? They
need to get on the same team. THIS IS FOR OUR COUNTRY. This isn’t
a personality contest, it is the peoples movement, and we need
the two of them banding together. Not to mention that we could
use a few more like Michelle Malkin, she is a Great American.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Perhaps Sharia Law isn’t such a bad idea.
Consider this. At least the crooks in D.C. Wouldn’t have any
hands to steal our money! LOL
Teleprompter Messiah| 4.20.09 @ 12:50PM
Trillion dollar deficits year-on-year to provide play money for
social engineers. That is what drives the tea parties.
The forseeable consequences of this useless spending are:
increased taxation to pay for unsustainable government; the
devaluation of the currency; hyperinflation; stagnant
productivity.
Who wants to relive the 70's? Apparently 52% of the country.

First of all this country needs a wake up call on one thing when
it comes to spending. Bush spent $1 Billion a day in Iraq. $1
Billion a day for a war that has resulted in what positive effect
on the US? A few thousand of our bravest dead? Now Obama (which a
majority of this country elected something Bush Jr. cannot say)
Spends $15 Billion on bailing out the auto industry and is
immeadeatly chastised and thrown under the bus. Obama is saving
thousands and thousands of jobs by taking 2 weeks of Bushes "I'm
sorry i was a bad kid dad let me make it up to you fund" and
everybody on the list cries foul. Where were you true fiscal
conservatives when Bush was racking up a bill to a tune of a
10,000,000 Bennie franks a day to fight a pointless war doing
nothing but killing our men and women.
And to the Coverage EARTH TO PEOPLE BOTH FOX AND CNN ARE
BIASED!!!!! come on people
And anyone know why these taxes are going up?? CAUSE BUSH WITH
HIS IDIOTIC fiscal policies. Stop taxing the rich? great idea
they only generate a great portion of the United States Tax
income. Great idea JR! While massivly cutting taxes increase
spending out the buttload to buy bombs for a pointless war! Great
Idea JR! lets get the biggest defficit in the history of the
united states.

While Tom Paine writes as if he were well named, his arrogant
sarcasm is only a mindless imitation of Obama's response to
conservative objections.
This President is currently spending at the rate of $672 million
dollars per hour. Reason enough for the Tea Parties.
But there is more. All on this site should plug into
billayers.wordpress.com and take a look at how the committed
radicals (Obama's buddies) are viewing his Presidency. That is at
the heart of the Tea Party Rebellion.
I personally do not believe Obama is a socialist. That would
suggest a well defined intellectual epistemology that does not .
Much too involved for Barack Obama. Rather, what we have in Obama
is a Collectivism that is neither refined in terms of ideology
nor well thought out in terms of direction and impact; a
Collectivism that is borne of class-warfare, pure and simple and
nothing more.
While Obama is critical of a free economy and "trickle down"
economics, he does not realize that an economy that provides for
the poor in terms of job offerings and education has no
alternative. "trickle up" doesn't even sound right. Giving money
to America's "poor" does not solve their problems, drives the
nation further into debt (our national public debt is more than
60 trillion dollars - yes, with a "t"), and ignores the
historical record of similar but failing previous systems.
The Tea Party Rebellion is only the first response to present
Obama’s political coup.
john smithson| 4.20.09 @ 1:38PM

Will,
President Obama in his first 100 days has borrowed over $5
trillion. It took President Bush 8 years and a war to borrow $4
trillion. The final pricetag for Obama's deficits could reach $16
trillion before his time in office is up.
And the conservatives within the GOP didn't give President Bush a
free-pass. They voted against both TARP and the Auto Bailout.
Thus far, not one single job has been saved from either
TARP1&2, or the auto bailout.

Good news folks, Obama, the fiscal watchdog, has just demanded
from his cabinet clowns cut backs of $100M. Wow!! What a frugal

The head fascist at DHS, Janet Napolitano, immediately clicked

As a poor man, I believe I could live a much better life if the
socialist-liberal (whatever) politicians in Washington would stop
trying to help me. Too many people fail to realize, that before
the government can give anything to anybody, the government first
has to take it from somebody else. That plundered cost is then
passed on in the form of higher prices. I would love lower prices
on my food, fuel and utility bills, but the democrats and some
republicans insist on using a large portion of our food supply as
a fuel instead of food. This has caused food prices to rise
substancially (I really would like to eat more than just soup and
balogna sandwiches) and at the same time lowers my car's fuel
efficiency which forces me to spend more of what little money I
have on more gas for the same miles driven. We are the Saudi
Arabia of coal and could have as much as ten times the amount of
oil than they do, but democrats keep putting more those resources
off limits for our use. This not only keeps prices artificially
higher, but also it could seriously effect our economic and
national security in the future. I worked at gas station during
the oil embargo in early 70's and remember the long lines down
the street and the station running out of gas on a Friday and be
closed for the weekend. This sort of senario occurred when we
imported a far lower percentage of our nation's oil use. I wish
my health insurance premiums were less than they are, but thanks
to government regulations and policies and trial lawyers
(democrats best friends), higher prices are imposed on me and
everyone else. I paid less to the hospital when my daughter was
born in 1985 (I did not have insurance at the time, I made
payments for a few years) than my insurance premiums cost me
every year now. I could go on and on, but instead, I will end
this writing with a plea to our government. PLEASE, STOP HELPING
ME, I CAN'T AFFORD IT!!!!!!!

President infanticide sure doesn't.

Hey, OR--what would you know about a paycheck, liberal loser?
…Silence dogood on April 20, 2009 – 8:57 am The Union News blog has covered critiques of Tax Day Tea Party event news coverage since before April 15. Liberals are funny. The problem is really that Bush got us into
trouble with out of control spending, so Obama is going to get us
out of trouble with even more out of control spending?
Liberals are funny.
Liberty or Death| 4.20.09 @ 4:33PM
"Tom Paine," yeah right, said Rush listeners are the 60 and over
crowd. You might want to check your facts again dude. Rush is one
of the few actually speaking the truth out there, and the
"educated" among us, recognize that. It's the dips#$@,
over-generalizing, liberal robots, like you, who are living under
a rock. You better go back and get a refund for your so-called,
"prized" education. You got ripped off dude.
Obama can take that $400 tax credit and shove it. If it is going
to cause my kid's kids undue hardship, and government serfdom,
then it isn't worth it.
Will is drinking the kool-aid. Anybody who thinks the stimulus,
and bail outs, are about helping this country, needs their head
examined.
What can I say? There is no hope for this one folks. His head is
a coconut.

Liberals are not funny, they are deranged power hungry lunatics.
They are those who celebrate protest for the right to kill unborn
children but ridicule those who protest against runaway
government deficit spending and increasing control of our great
economy and of our ability to make a livelihood. CNN is a
disgrace, witness how anxiously Anderson Cooper blurted out that
you cannot talk while "teabagging" as he knows from personal
experience. That is a sick, deranged mind for you. Of course he
was not to be outdone by the freaks over at MSNBC in using
disgusting, childish sexual innuendo. Of course these tactics
will backfire with those who seek honest news which explains
their anemic ratings. Witness Glenn Beck at 5 pm getting about
the same amount of viewers as Olbermann and Madcow combined.
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 5:13PM
There will come a point where reason and words don’t have any
value in public discourse if we continue down this path. I would
prefer it not come to that but the greatest danger to this
Constitutional Republic has always come from within. External
threats can destroy us; internal threats can enslave us which in
my mind is far worth than death. Death comes to all of us but
Liberty to only those willing to pay the price. The price has
never been cheap nor will it ever be. The Founders understood and
lived through it that some men will sell everything including
their souls for the sake of power. The necessary function of a
civilized society does not require a “king” to rule over the
masses nor a council of Prince and Princesses from the most
refined stock of nobility as we have in Washington DC today. I
don’t have that many more years in this place with this one life.
I’m going to die as I have lived, a free man. Others may die
because they don’t respect that simple inalienable right.
Will| 4.20.09 @ 5:31PM
yeah obama is spending money, but atleast its on his own country

Todd| 4.20.09 @ 5:39PM
Will sounds like he is a regular Olbermann listener, a deranged
angry liberal. Let us see Will how Obama's kissing ass of third
World dictators works out? I mean it worked pretty well for
Carter didn't it? Will is not able to debate rationally any
issue, just to tell us to shut the f*** up and that we won.
Chavez won to as I recall and has really turned Venezuela into a
socialist paradise, maybe Obama wants to learn from him since we
should listen to their "good ideas".
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 5:47PM
Will, you've spent your life to this point blaming someone else
for your failures to measure up as a man. Everything is someone
else’s fault in you play book. I’ve never taken anything from
you, nor have I ever ask for anyone to steal on my behalf. I’ve
worn this country’s military uniform when it was real unpopular
to do so in public. People who think like you spit on me simply
because of the uniform. I didn’t kill them in response. Like them
you don’t know a thing about me but you compare me to people you
hate simply because I have an understanding of the real world you
can’t handle. Your kind is well known to my kind. We know your
MO. You won’t be there when the chips are down. I will. MOBs are
only as brave as the biggest big mouth. Which are you Will, the
Big Foul mouth who thinks vulgar words impress steely eyed
rational people or the Rats that run away when the Big Mouth hits
the deck? Brave words from someone that I think has never had to
look death in the eyes before.
Will| 4.20.09 @ 5:59PM
oh yeah i have different views im not able to be rational. that
might be the biggest problem with the gop their unwillingness to
compromise which will end up in either the party splitting
reforming or losing relavance. im gonna go waste my time in
another place have fun with ignorance!!!!
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 6:08PM
Todd, “deranged angry liberal” is an awful redundant use of words
isn’t it? I prefer “child”. What you see in Liberal land is the
typical response from a child who can’t get their way. What is
the first thing they do (today)? Throw an angry fit and start
cussing to try and intimidate you. Wild animals act this way in
order to not have to fight you if they can avoid it. It would be
a bit of an understatement to say the “Wills” of the world have
issues in their life that they aren’t mature enough to work out.
This is usually what happens when children are raised in single
parent homes or live at home with their parent(s) until their
late twenties or early thirties. Their brains never mature and
they don’t honestly know how to act in a civil society. The “Tea
Parties” were symbolism over substance to say the least and look
how the Children of the Left respond? Nothing new here but a
dangerous situation none the less.
Tom Paine| 4.20.09 @ 6:08PM
Conservative can be forgiven for the fuzzy focus of these
"protests". They're just not that used to protesting anything,
and they haven't gotten the hang of grass-roots rabble-rousing.
For that, you have to be a liberal.
Honestly, I don't know what the "point" of these "demonstrations"
was.
The messages I got were: a) Whatever they were, Fox News wanted
its name associated with them; b) The people there really, really
hate B. Obama; c) No, really: they HATE Obama's guts; d) They
would believe ANYTHING of Obama, no proof necessary; e) They'd
prefer not to have taxes, government, or laws; f) They really,
really hate Obama's guts.
How noble! We haven't seen anything like it since the Civil
Rights movement, I'm sure!
Todd| 4.20.09 @ 6:10PM
You might want to consider the mote in your own eye Will before
seeing the beam in someone else. You are the one that tells
people who think differently from you to shut the f*** up. Sounds
like you have alot of time to waste so have fun with that.
Angel| 4.20.09 @ 6:21PM
TP/Jeremiah is a funny fascist liberal troll. Daily, he lectures
us Conservatives about the proper decorum of a model American
citizen. Then one of his fellow moronic fascist liberal buddies
posts an idiotic, rambling comment and tells us to shut the f***
up. Heal thyself first, Jeremiah--fascist liberal troll.
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 6:24PM
Hey Will, try typing instead of tex..ing. Slowing down lets
rational thought enter the process. If you understood anything
about the founding of this Nation and the importance of being a
Constitutional Republic vs. a Mob rule Democracy you wouldn’t be
so quick to discount the obvious and most important differences
and why they are important. They used to actually teach that
stuff in Government schools but that was long before your time in
Government day care. You clearly want the GOP to be irrelevant
and they clearly are at the Federal level right now. You “won”,
Obama said so thus is must be so. An educated person with insight
into history of such things wouldn’t be so quick to state the
obvious so obviously and with such anger. It scares the sheepe
and that is the last thing your Lord and Master wants, to wake
the sheepe.
As to compromise, well there in lies the problem Will. 72.8 % of
the German people voted for the Nazis, the Communists and the
Socialists but the Nazis cut a better deal when the dust settled.
Didn’t work out too well for the German people did it? You’ll
find in time that there is a vital difference between thinking
you are a victim of someone else’s evil intentions and having
someone use intimidation to shut you up or use “force” to enslave
you. I happen to know the difference and you’ve not demonstrated
you even care that there is a difference. What percentage of your
income did you pay in taxes last year Will?
Todd| 4.20.09 @ 6:25PM
Let me ask you a question Tom Paine, would you shake Hugo
Chavez's hand and give him a great big smile while you did so?
Would you accept a anti-American book from him? Would you bow to
the Saudi King? Yes, many of us are very disgusted with Obama for
crapping on our country to these dictators.
Maybe that is the message you got because you get your news from
CNN and MSNBC and maybe the Daily Show as well. Are you one of
those who screams bloody murder about deficits under Bush but now
trillion dollar plus deficits do not bother you under Obama
because "it is for the good of the people". But I heard Obama
plans to cut $100 million from the budget, how fiscally
responsible of him.
Jim| 4.20.09 @ 6:31PM
Tom, your inability to understand the point of the protests
confirmes that you are a mindless liberal drone who blindly
follows "Dear Leader".
Jim| 4.20.09 @ 6:36PM
Thom,
I wore a uniform too when it was unpopular, I was also spit on.
One liberal ended up with a broken nose and another lost a large
portion of hair. $168.00 in fines and court costs, the best money
I ever spent.
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 6:43PM
Jim,
I hear you but I felt sorry for the "stoned" imbecile(s). After
all they were just “children”.
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 6:59PM
Hey Angel,
I think what you call “fascist liberal trolls” would last about
five minutes in what some of my friends call “the sh*t”. Nothing
like being thrown into organized chaos to bring the man out of
the boy if there is one home. The “FLTs” seem to have complete
freedom to blog 24/7 too. Two kinds of people have that kind of
time, those being paid to and those living on someone else’s
dime. There are some legit reasons to have such free time to rant
and rave on the Web all day but even people that work 2nd and
third shifts have to sleep some time. The FLTs are here from sun
rise to sun set. That kind of narrows the group down a bit
doesn’t it? I wouldn’t have a job if I did this at work; I would
never have gotten out of school if this is all I did every day.
What do you think?
ruth| 4.20.09 @ 7:08PM

astro-turf trolls, double ugh! Regardless, they're all jackasses.
I could use choicer language--but AmSpec would ban me.
ruth| 4.20.09 @ 7:26PM
Hey, TP/Jeremiah--would 'they' believe that their President was
the mastermind behind the terrorist attacks on 9/11? Remember?
The September day 3,000 Americans died agonizing deaths? Huh? You
know, the idiot President you guys called BusHitler, who you said
couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time? No one could be that
big of a MORON; right, TP/Jeremiah?
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 7:30PM
The points I made with my 5:13 PM post were for a completely
rational reason. Anyone that actually knows this Nation’s history
knows that the point I made is valid too. This “I won” mindset
coupled with a childish temper tantrum and vulgar language
doesn’t impress adults too often. What ever the faults of the
last Administration were, none of that included trashing the
Constitution and individual liberties. Compared to Lincoln, FDR
and even LBJ, G.W. Bush did nothing to threatened individual
liberties or lives. He didn’t suspend the Constitution; occupy
states not in rebellion, intern millions of American citizens
because of their ethnic origins and unwillingness to sign a
loyalty oath. He didn’t force anyone to join the military. Bush
did nothing compared to Lincoln and FDR, one or both in time of
war. Obama has done more in 100 days to bring us closer to civil
war than anytime in history because he thinks just like many that
defend his arrogance, condescension and just plain snobbish
rhetoric. And that is just his words, not his deeds as of yet.
Those that think blaming Bush for everything or trying to shout
down the opposition is going to win hearts and rational minds are
going to be in for a rude awakening down the road. It might be at
the ballot box; it might not. We didn’t vote ourselves free of
the last Tyrant that thought they owned us. There are all kinds
of ways to throw sand in Obama’s march into Marxism. Sooner or
later tyrants resort to “force” and that is usually when the real
“sh*t” hits the fan. There are no winners in war, just bigger
losers. Its our history, ignore it if you wish. Been done before.
Liberty or Death| 4.20.09 @ 7:34PM
Sounds like you guys have it all wrapped up here;). These
lib-tards love to point the finger, but when it comes back
around, they have no ideas to stand on. They usually end their
tirades with some desperate expletive, or another.
Will and Tom Paine can barely put words together. I wouldn't
worry too much about what they have to say.
However, for purely entertainment value:
FYI Will- Yeah, your guy won, but not by much. That slim margin
of victory was due mostly to Bush hatred, ACORN and Black Panther
shenanigans. The rest ccould be blamed on Republicans, the
supposed, "spend-thrift conservatives," who fell asleep at the
wheel for the last few years-- spending money like it grew on
trees. I really wouldn't hang on to that victory as some kind of
mandate though. Your guy isn't as loved by the American people as
you think he is.
FYI Tom- The protests were not about "rich, white people,"
(that's your buddy, Rev. Wright's language) angry at President
Obama's skin color. In fact, I saw people of every stripe at the
protest I attended. As ridiculous as that sounds to you... I know
it seems to be the soup de jour of the Left--Conservatives are
racists... yada yada yada.
It had nothing to do with Fox News. Although, thank God they
covered this newsworthy event. The other failures, who call
themselves journalists, made an active choice to ignore us
because they are nothing but Obama's Pravda bureau.
And the Tea Parties weren't exclusively about taxation.
The Tea Parties were protests against tyranny, just as they were
against the English king. Americans are fed up with The One's
lavished spending. We do not want big government. And we do not
plan to take this lying down. What di you think we were going to
do? Turn the country over to Lord Obama and the Democrats because
"He won???" Baaaawwwhhh Ha Ha Ha! Turn the country over to you
bunch of half-wits, so you could take us down the sewer? Not
bloody likely.
The Tea Party was a message to the current bad crop in DC:
Change, or be changed.
How could anyone not get that? Are you that dense man?
Stammon| 4.20.09 @ 7:52PM
Hitler was once admonished;
"The pen is mightier than the sword".
"Yes, but we have bayonets".
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 8:01PM
The first thing Hitler did was take charge of the "pens". 80% of
the "pens" today belong to the party that wants to shut
opposition up, disarm them, rob them blind and call it Patriotic
for the pleasure of doing it. The Pen is mighter than the sword
when the guys with the pens also have the swoads.
Stammon| 4.20.09 @ 8:06PM
He also said this:
"This year will go down in history! For the first time, a
civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be
safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our
lead into the future!"
Or rather, might have. There is some dispute about it. The point
is the left can write what it wants, ultimately this is an armed
country.
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 8:16PM
Hopefully it doesn’t have to come down to the point of
demonstrating why the ultimate power rest with “the people” and
all the Prince and Princesses in Washington DC and several State
governments aren’t rulers in the sense some on this blog would
like to have it. Resistance is not futile; we are not insect
programmed to do the bidding of a “master” class of unaccountable
tyrants. A stiff price in blood and treasure has been spent to
get where we are today. It is will be worth what ever it cost to
remain a valid Constitutional Republic ruled by law not by men.
John Adams was right as was Benjamin Franklin. Our form of
government is only fit for a moral people and it won’t exist if
we don’t fight for it all the time.

Sadly Thom, that morality is what we are lacking today.
For evil to thrive good people must do nothing. Unfortunately, we
(the good people) have been too complacent for many, many years.
Liberal theology has run roughshod through our schools, popular
culture, and family make-up... to the very fabric, at the core of
this countries founding.
We need to recognize that a society without morality is lost. We
cannot expect people to respect morality, "law," without
respecting the Law Giver. Such is the nature of the battle ahead.
It is already written that we ultimately win, but for that to
happen, things are supposed to get pretty bad first.
And... I am certainly not saying we have to beat people up with
the Bible. But as a nation founded on the belief in a higher
power, in a Judeo-Christian moral doctrine, would it kill us to
recognize where that authority comes from now and then?
Without morality there can be no law.
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 8:34PM
Stammon,
Point of fact, the “world” has had over 60 years of nothing but
“Hitlerism” in print and on the Boob tube. That’s all most all of
the Pop culture grew up with and know anything at all about. As
bad as the Nazis were, they were just a portion of the mass evil
running amok during the last century. If the truth were actually
reported in proportion to its impact there would be a number of
equally evil names showing up in the conversations as the group
grew. True?

Liberty or Death, sadly true. Many of my friends are truly
scared. Some are "ready to go" if you understand my reference.
I'm not scared. I'm not ready to go. There is a bit of "killer
angel" in me as I get older and wiser. Things greater than one's
self are worth fighting for. There is a purpose to our existence.
We are not evolved animals, we are not the product of random
chance. The overall teaching of the Christian Bible are simply a
philosophy for life in an insane world. Many people treat it like
a Vampire treats a Cross. Perhaps there's a reason for that. I
don't fear other people's thoughts, words, etc. Life is a Journey
of Discovery but everything that the soul needed to survive was
discovered long ago. For some that isn't enough. Evil seeks
dominion over Man. Sometimes it smiles at you. Difficult road
ahead for sure. It won't be cost free.
Stammon| 4.20.09 @ 8:48PM
Yes, but everyone always argues from their own version of the
"truth. Many at the time thought the "National Socialists" were
the vanguard. The "truth" of Reagan's tax cut's causing 25 years
of prosperity, and his defeat of the USSR are forgotten and
ignored today.

I hear you. I understand the usage of the word "philosophy," with
biblical teachings; I'd personally, consider it a little more
than that, but I knew what you meant.
DesCartes and Hume were philosophers;).
There's a time for everything- that is for certain. And war, God
forbid, may reach these shores again.
America is worth fighting for. The idea of inalienable rights
endowed by our Creator, is definitely worth fighting for.
I like your points.

... and that is galvanizing the silent, conservative, love
America majority out of their patient, silent forebearanace. I

Thom| 4.20.09 @ 9:29PM
Stammon,
There’s one truth; many points of views. That’s why committees
are terrible at getting anything done.
The Old Chief,
It is not a tax cut; it’s a lie and simply a campaign gimmick.
They give you back a fixed amount per week this year; less next
year then gone. Won’t buy more than 3 gallons of $4.50 gas every
two weeks. Meaningless.
DS80,
You have to have a candidate that can carry the message else all
the galvanizing is pointless. The GOP is good a eating their own
or letting the other side pick their candidates. Note the last
election.
Liberty or Death,
I believe in biblical teachings; It’s not an amoral view I have
of how to live life. I believe we have been given the gift of
free will and choice and all that we need to help our selves do
what is right. I don’t believe God damns us as some have famously
said; we damn ourselves.
stmichrick| 4.20.09 @ 9:29PM
Angel;

Criticism of liberals is okay, but I have found that ridicule is
much more effective. I find great joy in developing a rapier wit
so that I can use it to skewer the smug little prigs. Great
sport.
Lila| 4.20.09 @ 9:34PM
We already know what the liberal left wing/MSM calls a good
rally. Throwing bricks or rocks in windows, with bandana's
covering their faces, throwing pies, stepping on/or burning the
American flag, calling people racists and bigots if you don't
agree with them, etc, etc. Ms. J. Garofalo is the classic example
of the angry, hateful, intolerant, uncompassionate liberal these
days. The same woman that said anyone should be able to speak
freely, (against Bush) and anyone that would say otherwise is an
"Archie Bunker type"and a stupid person. It's not even worth
getting irritated. They thrive on insults, hatred and meaness.
They can't help themselves. They say they fight for the "little"
guy, (and are against torture) but if this was true, they
wouldn't abort/torture the little amongst us. Their skin is so
thin, that you can see though it. No debate, just degrade. I am
proud of my country no matter who is in the White House. Whether
is be a Republican or Democrat. My patriotism doesn't depend on
who is in the White House. I love America. This is my country and
I couldn't be prouder. but I will pray for wisdom/insight for our
president. So far, it is not looking good, but I have faith in
the "real" Messiah. This coming from an ex-lib.
Angel| 4.20.09 @ 9:37PM
Oh, please--Julie Banderas is just wholesome? The women at FOX
are beautiful: Have you watched Red Eye? My teenage son about
falls off the couch looking at those 'girls'. I laugh at him--and
you guys, too.
ruth| 4.20.09 @ 9:41PM
Geez, Lila--I was having such a nice evening, too. Did you have
to bring up that pig face Garofalo? What a downer.
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 9:48PM
Lila, bear in mind "America" is an idea not a place or people.
The child minds of the left trash people because they don't
understand this. They get their power by tearing down others. You
can not reason with a Rattlesnake. They do what they do.
Sometimes the best weapon is silence and a very large stick put
to proper use. Serious adults have had to step up to the plate in
the past when the children got out of hand and steered the ship
of state onto the rocks..... Let no one shut you up but don't
lower yourself down to the level of a child as they do. I learned
long ago (with some pain) that most fights are won or lost before
they are fought. The one running their mouth usually loses or
runs away.
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 9:51PM
Lila, Ruth, Angel,
How did we go from this to women in bikinis?
ds80| 4.20.09 @ 9:53PM
Thom, I'm hopeful that the tipping point will have been reached,
as in the 90's with Ross Perot. That there will be enough disgust
with our aristocratic Congress from across the entire political
spectrum to cleanse Congress of career politicians of BOTH
parties.
ds80| 4.20.09 @ 9:56PM
ruth - there is much anecdotal evidence in your observation. I
also have found that Libs can't take ridicule without running
home with their marbles crying, "Doody-head!" over their
shoulder.
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 9:59PM
ds80, one could hope but Ross got Clinton elected and we are at a
point where real problems aren't being addressed and imaginary
ones are at great expense. Someone has to “pay” for all this and
half the population pays nothing and thinks the other half should
pay it all. Somebody’s Ox is going to get slaughtered here. There

Tom Paine - once again the left has missed the entire point. The
tea parties are not directly about taxes - they are about out of
control spending by the federal government. I don't care what
party initiates it - it's out of control.
The point of this article was to point out how biased the media
is. How can these people call themselves journalists? They are
anything but journalists.
As for your observation regarding the average age of a Rush
listener, or how most of the protesters are getting tax cuts
under Obama, so what? I can only assume that this is a poor
attempt on your part to insult those protesting. Should I feel
grateful to Obama that I am being allowed to keep more of my own
money? Gee - thanks!
I am growing tired of the insinuation that anyone who is a
conservative simply marches in lockstep with anything Limbaugh
has to say (or any other radio or TV personality for that
matter). Most of us who are opposed to the outrageous spending
being done by Washington, are at work when these people are on
the air. I can’t tell you the last time I heard Limbaugh, Hannity
or any other talk show host. I work thirteen hours a day so that
I can be sure to pay my “fair share” of taxes. That is until
those of you on the left decide that I still have too much - by
whatever measure you decide to use.

I see Lord Percy State-Fellator (the person misusing the name
"Tom Paine"--which would sort of be like me using the name "Karl
Marx" for some perverse reason) is back, once again pushing for
submission to the Annointed One. If the real Tom Paine had this
guy's Cult-of-the-State mind-set, instead of "Common Sense" he'd
have written "Whatever Stupid Ideas Come into My Head At Any
Time," a Tory screed preaching submission to King George.
Nick in Virgini| 4.21.09 @ 9:25AM
The people here on this site get it. Even though our INCOME TAXES
might not go up, even though We The People may not have to pay
Cap-and-Trade taxes (directly), we will be paying all the taxes
that the corporations have to swallow under the 0bama
administration, because CORPORATIONS DO NOT PAY TAXES, their
customers do.
Most people at this site understand that, so I won't explain as I
would if I were on a CNN, NY Times, WaPo, or other lefty site.
The problem here is, there are hardly any lefties to convince
(and the lefties who are on this site, such as Thomas Paine, are
paid by the DNC to just act as pests, so they are not about to
look at things in a different light no matter how strong an
argument someone makes).
So all we can do is keep plugging away.

The average Limbaugh listener is 67? Okay, I'll go with that. I
myself (42) don't listen, either, but not because I disagree with
Rush's views. It's because the show airs during the day, and I
(gasp!) have a JOB. And, because of my work ethic (all you
liberals may need to look that phrase up), I don't have time to
listen to talk radio while I'm at said job. I'm sure the
demographic would drop down considerably if they aired him during
rush hour in the major markets.

I had to laugh at the guy above who said that the protesters were
getting tax cuts from Obama. Read the fine print you moron! NO
ONE is getting a tax cut. What one hand giveth, the other taketh
away. Thus is the way of the lord obama. The stimulus is nothing
more than a purchase of votes. The untaxed, the unions, the
greenies, the energy aware crowd all get something from lord
obama. Business, industry, entrepreneurs, etc. get higher taxes
and more regulation.

In Japan they responded to an economic slump by pouring pork on
it and trying to spend their way to renewed prosperity. The
result was a lost decade and they still have not truly recovered.

My comment about the Obama supports bashing older folks as 'out
of touch' or similar canards is as follows:
A Stunning Senior Moment
A self-important college freshman (typical Obama supporter)
walking along the beach took it upon himself to explain to a
senior citizen resting on the steps why it was impossible for the
older generation to understand his generation. “You grew up in a
different world, actually an almost primitive one” the student
said loud enough for others to hear. “The young people of today
grew up with television, jet planes, space travel, and man
walking on the moon. We have nuclear energy, ships and cell
phones, computers with light speed….and many more.”
After a brief silence, the senior citizen responded as follows.
“You’re right son. We didn’t have those things when we were
young…so we invented them. Now you arrogant little sh*t what are
you doing for the next generation?
This young man typifies the Obama supporter. Everything that this
great country invented and produced is right in front of all of
us. The older generation gets zero credit, and even more
important this great country and its great entrepreneurial spirit
and “non-socialist” Capitalist system made it all possible!
So before you ‘young Turks’ cast stones at your elders, or the
most successful government experiment in the history of mankind
think just for a few minutes, and imagine where will all the good
things come from with Obama’s BIG government in charge of
everything. In case you have a hard time figuring this out, let
me add, government does NOT produce anything. Government takes
and wastes. Now you figure out how we will still be a great
nation. The simple answer is ‘we will cease to being great’ and
your life in the future will be far more bleak. Think about it if
you can…if you can’t I feel sorry for you and all of us!

That's great! I completely agree with you. We have free choice
and a free will. You and I are on the same page:). Keep up the
good fight.
john smithson| 4.21.09 @ 2:56PM
JD. good post. Let me compare numbers, however. From what I can
see, if we count expense, set asides and interest, the total for
Obama is much closer to 9 trillion or around $600 million per
hour on a 24 hour day.
Yesterday, FoxBusinessNews revealed that only $60 billion has
been spent of Febs $787 billion "stimulus" bill.
Here in the Central Valley of California, near Fresno, our
section of the state received absolutely nothing, not a penny, of
the monies released to the state. One of our state's
Representatives, Devin Nunes, also revealed that no money will be
coming to this section until the Westside farmers do something
else besides farm.. Pelosi (from San FRan) believes their use of
water on the Westside is illegal and harmful to the environment
and refuses to allow monies to be spent in the region until
something changes.
If there is anyone on this site who still believes that Obama
intends on being a President of all the people, well, you are
probably as stupid as stupid gets.
I am 64 and have no intentions of letting this country be taken
over in a "peacefully" but radically charged coup. Ain't going to
happen.
I could not be more discouraged nor angry than I am right now. I
truly wanted this President to be successful and was willing to
compromise, knowing that his cultural biases are different than
mine.
But now, as of this morning [ if not before ] , he has declared
war on Conservatives with his willingness to prosecute the
previous administration for war crimes. His lot has to be
defeated in 2010 or armed resistance may be the alternative. Sad
but very true.
He knows nothing of economics. He knows nothing about foreign
affairs. He is anti-military. He is anti-gun ownership. He is no
more a Christian than I am a Muslim and works against the Faith
on every occasion. He is an abortion freak. He cannot resist a
daily photo shot and is a micro-manager of historic proportions.
He cares nothing about the dynamics of Constitutional government.
He cares nothing for free political speech and is probably not
even a citizen of this country. Also, he is neither a Socialist
nor a Captialist, choosing rather to function as a Bill Ayers
radical. He is quickly becoming the acknowledged enemy of freedom
and traditional values.
We still have voting rights and free political speech. While that
remains true, we need to get involved as we have never been.
Demonstrations, political debate, grassroots efforts, never
missing an opportunity to disagree and doing so in a civil but
knowledgeable fashion, all these efforts have become critical
options for those who have not joined the traitorous ranks of the
radial leftists who are now in charge of this country.
What can we do that does not involve violence .. specifically?
Ignore idiots like Tom Paine and whoever. Lets talk about
effective ways of dealing with this crisis - and I am not talking
about the financial crisis.

I’ll have a Poptropica
full written walkthrough very soon, but in the meantime, here are
some answers to some of the frequently asked questions about
Mythology Island. Having trouble? Post a question in the comments
and I’ll try to answer it!
Getting Hercules to Help You Poptropica
Hercules won’t help you until you have all five items from Zeus’
quest. Once you have the five items, bring them to Athena. Zeus
will appear and steal them. The big jerk! Once this happens, talk
to Athena and she will tell you that Hercules will help you.
You’ll need to have the magic mirror from Aphrodite because
Hercules doesn’t want to have to walk. He’s so lazy!
Getting the Hydra Scale Poptropica
You can see how to do this in the videos, but basically you need
to jump up when the Hydra is about to strike. He will rear one of
his heads back to attack and his eyes will bulge out.
Poptropica When this happens, jump up in the air
and then try to land on top of his head. That head will get
knocked out. When all five heads get knocked out, the Hydra will
be asleep and you can click on him to get one of the scales.

Regarding Paul Begala's noble sentiment that "Paying my fair
share of taxes, it seems, is the least I can do." , 1) what is
his "fair share" and who determines it? and 2) is he saying it's
a big patriotic (and maybe f**ing) deal just to fill out your tax
return and not cheat? If that's his idea of patriotism, it sure
doesn't amount to much. Certainly nothing to brag about. Unless,
that is, you take those in the BO administration, who aren't
patriotic by Begala's definition, as the norm.
Will,
President Obama in his first 100 days has borrowed over $5
trillion. It took President Bush 8 years and a war to borrow $4
trillion. The final pricetag for Obama's deficits could reach $16
trillion before his time in office is up.

The problem with politics is the fact that it is run by
politicians who only care about how much money they can make. This
annoys the everyday person and leads to these kinds of riots.

Wonderful article! It is like a rapier; sharp and succinct with just the right amount of humor!
It is also correct; en tout point!!
Tom Paine| 4.19.09 @ 3:03PM
I think what made it so easy to laugh at these "protests" was that demonstrators were seeking to ennoble a complaint about taxes.
Protestors where I live are usually out to defend the helpless (the Tibetans, the Sudanese, the unborn, the poor and wretched).
The "tea parties" were largely attended by people who are getting a tax CUT under Obama.
Yes, the protested spending. And I think they just might have a point.
But mostly what I heard was the shrill, obnoxious voice of the "Me generation," now growing old.
A recent poll found that the average age of a Rush Limbaugh listeners was 67.
I think that speaks volumes.
Deborah D| 4.20.09 @ 6:39AM
(Since I've seen another "Deborah" on postings of late, I thought I'd better add the "D" to my name from now on--I'm the original Deborah, just FYI).
The Tea Parties have less to do with taxes than with outrageous spending by the Congress (and the inability or unwillingness to read the ridiculous bills they're signing) and a total disregard for what this outrageous deficit and debt portends for the future of our country and our children. Many fear we are losing our country since Congress seems to be running amuck with no regard for the people.
Most attenders, like myself, worry for our children. My sign read: "Congressional spending enslaves our children to the Chinese" on one side and "Congressional spending = ALL children left behind."
Call us names, call us whatever you wish, but that won't deter us. We see the future and the future does not look too bright. I also saw many young people at the Atlanta Tea Party. By young, I mean young adults in their teens and 20's and young families in their 30's.
One sign by a girl who looked to be in her late teens to early 20s's read, "What's in your wallet? Oh, wait, that's my wallet."
A sign I saw online from (I believe it was Iowa) was held by a college-aged girl. It said, "Why teach reading and math? Congress doesn't use either."
Mark Steyn has an excellent piece worth the read. He asks, "Are Americans subjects or citizens? If the latter, then a benign sovereign should not be determining 'your interests' and then announcing that he’s giving you a 'tax credit' as your pocket money." Amen to that. You can read Steyn here:

What is really interesting is the sophomoric level of humour that has escaped from Family Guy and South Park to infest what used to be a news network (the animated series formerly known as CNN). If anybody over there can read, perhaps it is time someone provided the whole class with copies of Lord of the Flies, so that they can see what happens when the children are left in charge. I was at university with the parents of these brats, whose fondest memory is of the day they took a whiz in the University Presidents trash basket, and I hope they are satisfied at the level of poo-poo-head humour they have spawned. Cant wait for the day when we are all retired and poo-poo-heads rule the world. Can you?
Michael L. Hauschild| 4.20.09 @ 7:13AM
How would anyone know what is said at CNN?
Steve| 4.20.09 @ 7:30AM
Newsflash to Mr. Paine:
There will be NO tax cuts under Mr. Obama. Surely you are not so naive as to take what he SAYS seriously; watch what he DOES, instead. Taxes come in many shapes and sizes apart from the income tax, from which most Obama supporters are exempt. A nickel tossed to this fool will be replaced by quarter slipped from his pocket via "cap and trade" or assorted hidden taxes.
Gut the spending, cut the taxes. Bad gummint, no bone for you.

Dear Deborah D,
Excellent comments. I couldn't attend the local Tea-Party, however, I did tie a tea-bag to my company I.D. badge. My best was to attend in spirit.
Why teach reading or math? Congress doesn't use either. Perfect.
Best regards,

Melvin| 4.20.09 @ 7:46AM
Steve, noted this correctly, Obama gave us a nickel tax cut for the sake of publicly touting that he gave us a tax cut.
Since we are all adults here and for he sake of reason, Democrats haven't given Americans a real tax cut since JFK.
But, Liberals love to have the gotcha question or statement of, "Obama, did give 95% of Americans a tax cut." That statement is false because 40% percent of Americans pay taxes and the other 55% received free money that they didn't work for.
Long term, President Obama is economically enslaving millions of unborn Americans, plain and simple.

Susan Roesgen was rejected by FOX News twice when she applied to work there. (from News-Busters.com)
WilliamInWien| 4.20.09 @ 8:13AM
What would have been the result if the Tea Party/Tax Day just happened to be on a Saturday or Sunday? How many more citizens would have attended? Mr. Paine misses a key point: Many citizen/taxpayers do NOT want a rebate or any type of stimulus check this year or next. Rather, stop the overall spending levels and debt creation.
As for CNN, is it possible that as their audience dwindles more people are becoming wiser? Ever look at their question of the day and replies available to the reader? Now that is an insult to the reader.
Andrew B.| 4.20.09 @ 8:17AM
I find the liberal talking point that protesters should shut up because "they are getting a tax cut under Obama" to be fascinating, if bizarre.
I don't care if, as the CNN "reporter" said, I will be getting $400 back under the President's plan. Am I expected to sell out my values and beliefs for that? I am a wicked, evil, greedy conservative, but I can't be bought off for a tiny return of what is, let us not forget, my own money to begin with.
Do liberals come so cheap? Aren't they supposed to be above such petty, moneygrubbing ways?
If, as I believe, President Obama is headed in a blatantly irresponsible and un-Constitutional way, should I shut up because he will let me buy a new TV ?
Old Soldier| 4.20.09 @ 8:26AM
Tom Paine - Nobody with a job is getting a tax cut. Look up the 2000 tax table and compare to 2008, come back and apologize.
There are other kinds of taxes that will relieve us of our wealth. Government spending will crowd out private business investment - making us all poorer. When inflation really kicks in, we'll all be poorer.
Anthony| 4.20.09 @ 9:19AM
If there was any doubt about MSM leftist bias and ecomomic illiteracy, these tea-party events put the final nail in the coffin to those carnards.
How rich it is to see these '60s influenced leftists suck up to the likes of Mussolini's great-granddaughter, Ms. Napolitano, as they impune fellow Americans, while they gladly goose-step to Obama's cap & trade.
As to the pathetic Ms. Roesgen, who is at some undisclosed location for therapy, probably where Paul Krugman goes, she and the rest of the CNN morons need to understand that the stimulus bill, that redistributes billions from us taxpayers, to reckless spending state governors and legislatures, so they can continue their profligate spending, is precisely what the tea party events were trying to STOP.
As to Paul Begala, how many accountants does it take to keep a lying leftist out of jail? Answer: It doesn't matter, they don't get caught and if they do, they're too important.
America is in deep, deep trouble folks, as these leftist fools have overtaken all our important institutions.
Thomas| 4.20.09 @ 9:48AM
The liberal collectivist faction in this country HAS to marginalize the "tea parties". They represent what the left fears the most, the verbalization of what used to be called the silent majority. The get-togethers represent a non-centralized grassroots up-swelling of citizen frustrations with a government that appears to be totally unresponsive to their wishes and desires. As it is unlikely that government, any government, will listen; this feeling of frustration will increase until it reaches a tipping point. For those on the liberal side, that is really scary.
Hank Rearden| 4.20.09 @ 9:50AM
Thomas Paine,
How dare you use the name of a father of reason! Nevertheless, you are incorrect. The people protesting are not getting a tax cut, they're getting a welfare check (just like the one Bush gave). A tax cut would be nice, then they could plan long term and not simply pay off their cable bills. However, they'll need more than a simple welfare check once utility rates go up to cover cap and trade and their amount of deductions disappear. It is important to note that the tea parties were more about government waste than about taxes.

Please don't insult Tom Paine. Unlike evil, self-interested conservatives, he cares SO DARN MUCH about other people - you know, the oppressed victims of YOUR selfishiness - that he's willing to put your money where his mouth is.
Now that's courage. Now that's altruism. If only we benighted conservatives cared half as much.

Tom Paine:
Much like the MSM, you completely missed the story. This was not specifically about taxes, but instead about an increasingly intrusive government that seeks to control us and our way of life from cradle to grave.
There was a time when "liberals" distrusted government and valued individual liberty and freedom above all else. But the modern day liberal is in fact a statist who seeks refuge from all of life's problems and thinks government can provide all the answers.
As for those middle class tax cuts, what will the impact of a few extra dollars in your pocket be when Obama and the dems hit us with cap and trade policies designed to drive the price of energy sky high? When energy costs rise, what will that do to the cost of commodities such as food? The list goes on and on.
It's fine to be a liberal, but open your eyes to what is going on. Break your emotional attachment to Obama and for just once undertake a purely intellectual examination of what he is doing and intends to do. If you value individual liberty and freedom, I think you might be truly frightened.
Leslie| 4.20.09 @ 10:24AM
The "helpless": this includes the citizenry who must what, simply stand by "helplessly" while the present government spends taxpayers' dollars from here to eternity? There are countless noble causes out there, from Tibet to the moon, and we are all free to decide for ourselves which ones we will support. It is repulsive to have some self-righteous person try to dictate to others what they should care about.
mattled| 4.20.09 @ 10:27AM
My spouse has worked for CNN for years. I recently asked if they knew how biasede they were becaseu their rating just slipped into oblivion.
The response was: "No, they really think they are fair and down the middle. They are so far left and have been that way for so long, they have no idea ".
John Marshall| 4.20.09 @ 10:42AM
If Obama goes through with his plans to tax carbon, everybody is going to feel a huge tax increase, though it will not be on tax forms. The cost of energy will double or triple for everyone. As I told one of my students, yes we will get free health care but the price of gasoline will be $10 a gallon.
Anthony| 4.20.09 @ 11:08AM
I guess Obama and his chief Marxist advisor, David Axelrod, are getting a bit testy about these tea party events, like their allies in the MSM. Alexrod called these tea party events "unhealthy" on Face the Nation. Since I don't watch CBS, I'll speculate that Schieffer was in full drooling agreement, or his Depends overloaded.
MEMO TO AXELROD: The British back in 1772 thought the same thing. Also, Bob, it's normal when the people react to their government task masters, that the task masters get their backs up. But don't worry Bob, we've long ago stopped running hack politicians like you out of town on a rail covered in tar and feathers, but perhaps a revival of this practice is in order. I wonder if there is a correlation to Obama's worries and the recent shortage of Ammo and other gun products? Hey Janet, put great grand dad Benito's picture down, put your jackboots on and check out the situation and report back to us.
Louis Jenkins| 4.20.09 @ 11:12AM
These following tax categories (or user fees) may or may not apply in your area. Yes siree… Obama has given us a tax break!!
Accounts Receivable Tax, Building Permit Tax, CDL license Tax, Cigarette Tax, Corporate Income Tax, Dog License Tax, Excise Taxes, Federal Income Tax, Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA), Fishing License Tax, Food License Tax, Fuel Permit Tax, Gasoline Tax (44.75 cents per gallon or more in most areas), Gross Receipts Tax, Hunting License Tax, Inheritance Tax,
Inventory Tax, IRS Interest Charges IRS Penalties (tax on top of tax), Liquor Tax, Luxury Taxes, Marriage License Tax, Medicare Tax, Personal Property Tax, Property Tax, Real Estate Tax, Service Charge Tax, Social Security Tax, Road Usage Tax, Sales Tax, Recreational Vehicle Tax, School Tax, State Income Tax, State Unemployment Tax (SUTA) Telephone Federal Excise Tax, Telephone Federal Universal Service Fee Tax, Telephone Federal, State and Local Surcharge Taxes, Telephone Minimum Usage Surcharge Tax, Telephone Recurring & Non-recurring Charges Tax, Telephone State and Local Tax, Telephone Usage Charge Tax,
Utility Taxes, Vehicle License Registration Tax, Vehicle Sales Tax, Watercraft Registration Tax,
Well Permit Tax, Workers Compensation Tax, and this is just an ad hoc list.
So many taxes, so little time. No wonder tax payers are beginning to take to the streets. And CNN sucks fails to understand why?
Bilwick| 4.20.09 @ 11:53AM
So, "Tom Paine" is your point that when Baby Boomers age, they should just shut up and be dutiful, non-protesting tax serfs?
Aand by the way, why on earth would you pick the pseudonym of a hero to those of us on the pro-freedom side? You seem to be part of the New Tory movement, so wouldn't something like Lord Percy State-Fellator be more appropriate? Just asking.

Astroturf My Ass
April 18, 2009
We attended the rally in Austin on the 15th. It was fun, and we were proud to be a part of this historical movement.
We have noticed two problems:
1. There should be NO political speakers at these rallies. These are ‘The People’s’ rallies. As we see it, the politicians are the problem, and we MUST get rid of them. ALL OF THEM.
2. Our tea parties were seen to be all about taxes by the main street media. We weren’t out there just because of taxes and the government’s spending. The signs we saw were all encompassing; immigration, the borders, jobs, gun control, term limits, NAFTA, ACORN, etc. It was about taking our government back and making it work for us, we the people. We don’t want any part of the New World Order (that’s where we take care of the rest of the world. Hell, we can’t support ourselves). We should be through taking care of the rest of the world. You can’t BUY friendship. Let’s look out for the AMERICAN citizens for a change. HOW’S THAT FOR CHANGE?
Pay attention all of you Astroturf builders, gun toting hillbillies, and racists (labeled by the main stream media). ‘They’ say that we don’t count. We say “Let’s prove them wrong”. Let’s prove to them that we do count. We suggest that on the 4th of July weekend (the 3rd, 4th, and 5th), we, the taxpayers spend no money. Not one dime. We don’t buy gas, food, clothing. No sodas or chips, not even a beer for you rednecks. Yes that includes LONESTAR! NADA! NOTHING! Got it?
We need a theme for our next rally. Bring a friend or two, leave the politicians at home. This movement is addictive, after all. THIS IS OUR COUNTRY!
Now, we could be wrong. But are we the only ones that have noticed that Glenn and Hannity aren’t being team players? They need to get on the same team. THIS IS FOR OUR COUNTRY. This isn’t a personality contest, it is the peoples movement, and we need the two of them banding together. Not to mention that we could use a few more like Michelle Malkin, she is a Great American.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Perhaps Sharia Law isn’t such a bad idea. Consider this. At least the crooks in D.C. Wouldn’t have any hands to steal our money! LOL
Teleprompter Messiah| 4.20.09 @ 12:50PM
Trillion dollar deficits year-on-year to provide play money for social engineers. That is what drives the tea parties.
The forseeable consequences of this useless spending are: increased taxation to pay for unsustainable government; the devaluation of the currency; hyperinflation; stagnant productivity.
Who wants to relive the 70's? Apparently 52% of the country.
Will| 4.20.09 @ 1:22PM
First of all this country needs a wake up call on one thing when it comes to spending. Bush spent $1 Billion a day in Iraq. $1 Billion a day for a war that has resulted in what positive effect on the US? A few thousand of our bravest dead? Now Obama (which a majority of this country elected something Bush Jr. cannot say) Spends $15 Billion on bailing out the auto industry and is immeadeatly chastised and thrown under the bus. Obama is saving thousands and thousands of jobs by taking 2 weeks of Bushes "I'm sorry i was a bad kid dad let me make it up to you fund" and everybody on the list cries foul. Where were you true fiscal conservatives when Bush was racking up a bill to a tune of a 10,000,000 Bennie franks a day to fight a pointless war doing nothing but killing our men and women.
And to the Coverage EARTH TO PEOPLE BOTH FOX AND CNN ARE BIASED!!!!! come on people
And anyone know why these taxes are going up?? CAUSE BUSH WITH HIS IDIOTIC fiscal policies. Stop taxing the rich? great idea they only generate a great portion of the United States Tax income. Great idea JR! While massivly cutting taxes increase spending out the buttload to buy bombs for a pointless war! Great Idea JR! lets get the biggest defficit in the history of the united states.
And to melvin upstairs-"Long term, President Obama is economically enslaving millions of unborn Americans, plain and simple. " you got one thing right but you missed the president, its bush that has economically enslaved us, obama is just trying to pull us out.
john smithson| 4.20.09 @ 1:35PM
While Tom Paine writes as if he were well named, his arrogant sarcasm is only a mindless imitation of Obama's response to conservative objections.
This President is currently spending at the rate of $672 million dollars per hour. Reason enough for the Tea Parties.
But there is more. All on this site should plug into billayers.wordpress.com and take a look at how the committed radicals (Obama's buddies) are viewing his Presidency. That is at the heart of the Tea Party Rebellion.
I personally do not believe Obama is a socialist. That would suggest a well defined intellectual epistemology that does not . Much too involved for Barack Obama. Rather, what we have in Obama is a Collectivism that is neither refined in terms of ideology nor well thought out in terms of direction and impact; a Collectivism that is borne of class-warfare, pure and simple and nothing more.
While Obama is critical of a free economy and "trickle down" economics, he does not realize that an economy that provides for the poor in terms of job offerings and education has no alternative. "trickle up" doesn't even sound right. Giving money to America's "poor" does not solve their problems, drives the nation further into debt (our national public debt is more than 60 trillion dollars - yes, with a "t"), and ignores the historical record of similar but failing previous systems.
The Tea Party Rebellion is only the first response to present Obama’s political coup.
john smithson| 4.20.09 @ 1:38PM
Correction to my recent post.
" That would suggest a well defined intellectual epistemology that does not " should read " That would suggest a well defined intellectual epistemology that does not exist."
JP| 4.20.09 @ 2:14PM
Will,
President Obama in his first 100 days has borrowed over $5 trillion. It took President Bush 8 years and a war to borrow $4 trillion. The final pricetag for Obama's deficits could reach $16 trillion before his time in office is up.
And the conservatives within the GOP didn't give President Bush a free-pass. They voted against both TARP and the Auto Bailout. Thus far, not one single job has been saved from either TARP1&2, or the auto bailout.

Good news folks, Obama, the fiscal watchdog, has just demanded from his cabinet clowns cut backs of $100M. Wow!! What a frugal guy. Trillions wasted, millions saved. Only a Columbia/Harvard educated genius could have come up with this.
The head fascist at DHS, Janet Napolitano, immediately clicked her heels and announced millions in savings by buying in bulk. This is indeed good news, the jackboot manufacturers will be able to turn out millions of pairs for all of Obama's civilian corps at considerable savings to the American tax payers. Thank you lord Obama, we love you!!

Thomas Paine: What tax cut are you talking about for crying out loud? That $400 one? What a hoot!!!
Folks were getting an $800 one under Bush (his tax cuts were allowed to expire btw) and Michelle Obama made fun of it. Now we're supposed to take the piddly $400 and just shut up? In light of the "fees" were going to be paying on every breath we exhale (literally) that $400 is a BIG joke.

As a poor man, I believe I could live a much better life if the socialist-liberal (whatever) politicians in Washington would stop trying to help me. Too many people fail to realize, that before the government can give anything to anybody, the government first has to take it from somebody else. That plundered cost is then passed on in the form of higher prices. I would love lower prices on my food, fuel and utility bills, but the democrats and some republicans insist on using a large portion of our food supply as a fuel instead of food. This has caused food prices to rise substancially (I really would like to eat more than just soup and balogna sandwiches) and at the same time lowers my car's fuel efficiency which forces me to spend more of what little money I have on more gas for the same miles driven. We are the Saudi Arabia of coal and could have as much as ten times the amount of oil than they do, but democrats keep putting more those resources off limits for our use. This not only keeps prices artificially higher, but also it could seriously effect our economic and national security in the future. I worked at gas station during the oil embargo in early 70's and remember the long lines down the street and the station running out of gas on a Friday and be closed for the weekend. This sort of senario occurred when we imported a far lower percentage of our nation's oil use. I wish my health insurance premiums were less than they are, but thanks to government regulations and policies and trial lawyers (democrats best friends), higher prices are imposed on me and everyone else. I paid less to the hospital when my daughter was born in 1985 (I did not have insurance at the time, I made payments for a few years) than my insurance premiums cost me every year now. I could go on and on, but instead, I will end this writing with a plea to our government. PLEASE, STOP HELPING ME, I CAN'T AFFORD IT!!!!!!!
Tony in Central PA| 4.20.09 @ 3:45PM
I believe I saw a CBO projection from 2007 showing the US not being able to meet its debt obligations by the mid - 2030's. Remember, this was before GWB's stimulus, TARP 1, TARP 2 and the Obama stimulus. Those have probably shaved a good five years off the projection.
Somebody once said the last stages of a Democracy are apathy and dependency. I'm trying to figure out which one we're in right now.

Liberals are not funny, they are deranged power hungry lunatics. They are those who celebrate protest for the right to kill unborn children but ridicule those who protest against runaway government deficit spending and increasing control of our great economy and of our ability to make a livelihood. CNN is a disgrace, witness how anxiously Anderson Cooper blurted out that you cannot talk while "teabagging" as he knows from personal experience. That is a sick, deranged mind for you. Of course he was not to be outdone by the freaks over at MSNBC in using disgusting, childish sexual innuendo. Of course these tactics will backfire with those who seek honest news which explains their anemic ratings. Witness Glenn Beck at 5 pm getting about the same amount of viewers as Olbermann and Madcow combined.
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 5:13PM
There will come a point where reason and words don’t have any value in public discourse if we continue down this path. I would prefer it not come to that but the greatest danger to this Constitutional Republic has always come from within. External threats can destroy us; internal threats can enslave us which in my mind is far worth than death. Death comes to all of us but Liberty to only those willing to pay the price. The price has never been cheap nor will it ever be. The Founders understood and lived through it that some men will sell everything including their souls for the sake of power. The necessary function of a civilized society does not require a “king” to rule over the masses nor a council of Prince and Princesses from the most refined stock of nobility as we have in Washington DC today. I don’t have that many more years in this place with this one life. I’m going to die as I have lived, a free man. Others may die because they don’t respect that simple inalienable right.

I’ve never taken anything from you, nor have I ever ask for anyone to steal on my behalf. I’ve worn this country’s military uniform when it was real unpopular to do so in public. People who think like you spit on me simply because of the uniform. I didn’t kill them in response. Todd, “deranged angry liberal” is an awful redundant use of words isn’t it? I prefer “child”. What you see in Liberal land is the typical response from a child who can’t get their way. What is the first thing they do (today)? Throw an angry fit and start cussing to try and intimidate you. Wild animals act this way in order to not have to fight you if they can avoid it. It would be a bit of an understatement to say the “Wills” of the world have issues in their life that they aren’t mature enough to work out. This is usually what happens when children are raised in single parent homes or live at home with their parent(s) until their late twenties or early thirties. Their brains never mature and they don’t honestly know how to act in a civil society. The “Tea Parties” were symbolism over substance to say the least and look how the Children of the Left respond? Nothing new here but a dangerous situation none the less.
Tom Paine| 4.20.09 @ 6:08PM
Conservative can be forgiven for the fuzzy focus of these "protests". They're just not that used to protesting anything, and they haven't gotten the hang of grass-roots rabble-rousing. For that, you have to be a liberal.
Honestly, I don't know what the "point" of these "demonstrations" was.
The messages I got were: a) Whatever they were, Fox News wanted its name associated with them; b) The people there really, really hate B. Obama; c) No, really: they HATE Obama's guts; d) They would believe ANYTHING of Obama, no proof necessary; e) They'd prefer not to have taxes, government, or laws; f) They really, really hate Obama's guts.
How noble! We haven't seen anything like it since the Civil Rights movement, I'm sure!
Todd| 4.20.09 @ 6:10PM

Thom| 4.20.09 @ 6:24PM
Hey Will, try typing instead of tex..ing. Slowing down lets rational thought enter the process. If you understood anything about the founding of this Nation and the importance of being a Constitutional Republic vs. a Mob rule Democracy you wouldn’t be so quick to discount the obvious and most important differences and why they are important. They used to actually teach that stuff in Government schools but that was long before your time in Government day care. You clearly want the GOP to be irrelevant and they clearly are at the Federal level right now. You “won”, Obama said so thus is must be so. An educated person with insight into history of such things wouldn’t be so quick to state the obvious so obviously and with such anger. It scares the sheepe and that is the last thing your Lord and Master wants, to wake the sheepe.
As to compromise, well there in lies the problem Will. 72.8 % of the German people voted for the Nazis, the Communists and the Socialists but the Nazis cut a better deal when the dust settled. Didn’t work out too well for the German people did it? You’ll find in time that there is a vital difference between thinking you are a victim of someone else’s evil intentions and having someone use intimidation to shut you up or use “force” to enslave you. I happen to know the difference and you’ve not demonstrated you even care that there is a difference. What percentage of your income did you pay in taxes last year Will?
Todd| 4.20.09 @ 6:25PM
Let me ask you a question Tom Paine, would you shake Hugo Chavez's hand and give him a great big smile while you did so? Would you accept a anti-American book from him? Would you bow to the Saudi King? Yes, many of us are very disgusted with Obama for crapping on our country to these dictators.
Maybe that is the message you got because you get your news from CNN and MSNBC and maybe the Daily Show as well. Are you one of those who screams bloody murder about deficits under Bush but now trillion dollar plus deficits do not bother you under Obama because "it is for the good of the people". But I heard Obama plans to cut $100 million from the budget, how fiscally responsible of him.

Hey Angel,
I think what you call “fascist liberal trolls” would last about five minutes in what some of my friends call “the sh*t”. Nothing like being thrown into organized chaos to bring the man out of the boy if there is one home. The “FLTs” seem to have complete freedom to blog 24/7 too. Two kinds of people have that kind of time, those being paid to and those living on someone else’s dime. There are some legit reasons to have such free time to rant and rave on the Web all day but even people that work 2nd and third shifts have to sleep some time. The FLTs are here from sun rise to sun set. That kind of narrows the group down a bit doesn’t it? I wouldn’t have a job if I did this at work; I would never have gotten out of school if this is all I did every day. What do you think?

They could be trust-fund babies, ugh! They could be Axelrod astro-turf trolls, double ugh! Regardless, they're all jackasses. I could use choicer language--but AmSpec would ban me.
ruth| 4.20.09 @ 7:26PM
Hey, TP/Jeremiah--would 'they' believe that their President was the mastermind behind the terrorist attacks on 9/11? Remember? The September day 3,000 Americans died agonizing deaths? Huh? You know, the idiot President you guys called BusHitler, who you said couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time? No one could be that big of a MORON; right, TP/Jeremiah?
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 7:30PM
The points I made with my 5:13 PM post were for a completely rational reason. Anyone that actually knows this Nation’s history knows that the point I made is valid too. This “I won” mindset coupled with a childish temper tantrum and vulgar language doesn’t impress adults too often. What ever the faults of the last Administration were, none of that included trashing the Constitution and individual liberties. Compared to Lincoln, FDR and even LBJ, G.W. Bush did nothing to threatened individual liberties or lives. He didn’t suspend the Constitution; occupy states not in rebellion, intern millions of American citizens because of their ethnic origins and unwillingness to sign a loyalty oath. He didn’t force anyone to join the military. Bush did nothing compared to Lincoln and FDR, one or both in time of war. Obama has done more in 100 days to bring us closer to civil war than anytime in history because he thinks just like many that defend his arrogance, condescension and just plain snobbish rhetoric. And that is just his words, not his deeds as of yet. Those that think blaming Bush for everything or trying to shout down the opposition is going to win hearts and rational minds are going to be in for a rude awakening down the road. It might be at the ballot box; it might not. We didn’t vote ourselves free of the last Tyrant that thought they owned us. There are all kinds of ways to throw sand in Obama’s march into Marxism. Sooner or later tyrants resort to “force” and that is usually when the real “sh*t” hits the fan. There are no winners in war, just bigger losers. Its our history, ignore it if you wish. Been done before.
Liberty or Death| 4.20.09 @ 7:34PM
Sounds like you guys have it all wrapped up here;). These lib-tards love to point the finger, but when it comes back around, they have no ideas to stand on. They usually end their tirades with some desperate expletive, or another.
Will and Tom Paine can barely put words together. I wouldn't worry too much about what they have to say.
However, for purely entertainment value:
FYI Will- Yeah, your guy won, but not by much. That slim margin of victory was due mostly to Bush hatred, ACORN and Black Panther shenanigans. The rest ccould be blamed on Republicans, the supposed, "spend-thrift conservatives," who fell asleep at the wheel for the last few years-- spending money like it grew on trees. I really wouldn't hang on to that victory as some kind of mandate though. Your guy isn't as loved by the American people as you think he is.
FYI Tom- The protests were not about "rich, white people," (that's your buddy, Rev. Wright's language) angry at President Obama's skin color. In fact, I saw people of every stripe at the protest I attended. As ridiculous as that sounds to you... I know it seems to be the soup de jour of the Left--Conservatives are racists... yada yada yada.
It had nothing to do with Fox News. Although, thank God they covered this newsworthy event. The other failures, who call themselves journalists, made an active choice to ignore us because they are nothing but Obama's Pravda bureau.
And the Tea Parties weren't exclusively about taxation.
The Tea Parties were protests against tyranny, just as they were against the English king. Americans are fed up with The One's lavished spending. We do not want big government. And we do not plan to take this lying down. What di you think we were going to do? Turn the country over to Lord Obama and the Democrats because "He won???" Baaaawwwhhh Ha Ha Ha! Turn the country over to you bunch of half-wits, so you could take us down the sewer? Not bloody likely.
The Tea Party was a message to the current bad crop in DC: Change, or be changed.
How could anyone not get that? Are you that dense man?
Stammon| 4.20.09 @ 7:52PM
Hitler was once admonished;
"The pen is mightier than the sword".
"Yes, but we have bayonets".
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 8:01PM
The first thing Hitler did was take charge of the "pens". 80% of the "pens" today belong to the party that wants to shut opposition up, disarm them, rob them blind and call it Patriotic for the pleasure of doing it. The Pen is mighter than the sword when the guys with the pens also have the swoads.
Stammon| 4.20.09 @ 8:06PM
He also said this:
"This year will go down in history! For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!"
Or rather, might have. There is some dispute about it. The point is the left can write what it wants, ultimately this is an armed country.
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 8:16PM
Hopefully it doesn’t have to come down to the point of demonstrating why the ultimate power rest with “the people” and all the Prince and Princesses in Washington DC and several State governments aren’t rulers in the sense some on this blog would like to have it. Resistance is not futile; we are not insect programmed to do the bidding of a “master” class of unaccountable tyrants. A stiff price in blood and treasure has been spent to get where we are today. It is will be worth what ever it cost to remain a valid Constitutional Republic ruled by law not by men. John Adams was right as was Benjamin Franklin. Our form of government is only fit for a moral people and it won’t exist if we don’t fight for it all the time.
Stammon| 4.20.09 @ 8:25PM
I just realized I have broken (validated) Godwin's Law. Oh,well.
I do not believe that Obama will try to pull a coup. Even under martial law. But it is fun watching the left froth at the mouth. I do believe that ultimately Obama is going to make G.W. Bush look good. Very good. I look forward to a severe repudiation of the Dems in the next election.

Sadly Thom, that morality is what we are lacking today.
For evil to thrive good people must do nothing. Unfortunately, we (the good people) have been too complacent for many, many years. Liberal theology has run roughshod through our schools, popular culture, and family make-up... to the very fabric, at the core of this countries founding.
We need to recognize that a society without morality is lost. We cannot expect people to respect morality, "law," without respecting the Law Giver. Such is the nature of the battle ahead. It is already written that we ultimately win, but for that to happen, things are supposed to get pretty bad first.
And... I am certainly not saying we have to beat people up with the Bible. But as a nation founded on the belief in a higher power, in a Judeo-Christian moral doctrine, would it kill us to recognize where that authority comes from now and then?
Without morality there can be no law.
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 8:34PM
Stammon,
Point of fact, the “world” has had over 60 years of nothing but “Hitlerism” in print and on the Boob tube. That’s all most all of the Pop culture grew up with and know anything at all about. As bad as the Nazis were, they were just a portion of the mass evil running amok during the last century. If the truth were actually reported in proportion to its impact there would be a number of equally evil names showing up in the conversations as the group grew. True?

Liberty or Death, sadly true. Many of my friends are truly scared. Some are "ready to go" if you understand my reference. I'm not scared. I'm not ready to go. There is a bit of "killer angel" in me as I get older and wiser. Things greater than one's self are worth fighting for. There is a purpose to our existence. We are not evolved animals, we are not the product of random chance. The overall teaching of the Christian Bible are simply a philosophy for life in an insane world. Many people treat it like a Vampire treats a Cross. Perhaps there's a reason for that. I don't fear other people's thoughts, words, etc. Life is a Journey of Discovery but everything that the soul needed to survive was discovered long ago. For some that isn't enough. Evil seeks dominion over Man. Sometimes it smiles at you. Difficult road ahead for sure. It won't be cost free.
Stammon| 4.20.09 @ 8:48PM
Yes, but everyone always argues from their own version of the "truth. Many at the time thought the "National Socialists" were the vanguard. The "truth" of Reagan's tax cut's causing 25 years of prosperity, and his defeat of the USSR are forgotten and ignored today.
Can we get her in a bikini?
The Old Chief| 4.20.09 @ 8:52PM
I keep hearing about this tax cut we are supposed to be getting. I just got a $35.00 per month tax increase when I went to buy my month supply of cancer sticks.
Meanwhile, there has been no corresponding increase in my income. Tax cut?????

I hear you. I understand the usage of the word "philosophy," with biblical teachings; I'd personally, consider it a little more than that, but I knew what you meant.
DesCartes and Hume were philosophers;).
There's a time for everything- that is for certain. And war, God forbid, may reach these shores again.
America is worth fighting for. The idea of inalienable rights endowed by our Creator, is definitely worth fighting for.
I like your points.
ds80| 4.20.09 @ 9:06PM
Thom said: "Many of my friends are truly scared."
... and that is galvanizing the silent, conservative, love America majority out of their patient, silent forebearanace. I come from a blue collar conservative family, and across the board my relatives are ALL fed up and wanting to DO SOMETHING. Nov 2010 appears to be the moment: THROW THEM ALL OUT.
Angel| 4.20.09 @ 9:15PM
I don't want to see Susie in a bikini, but thanks, anyway.
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 9:29PM
Stammon,
There’s one truth; many points of views. That’s why committees are terrible at getting anything done.
The Old Chief,
It is not a tax cut; it’s a lie and simply a campaign gimmick. They give you back a fixed amount per week this year; less next year then gone. Won’t buy more than 3 gallons of $4.50 gas every two weeks. Meaningless.
DS80,
You have to have a candidate that can carry the message else all the galvanizing is pointless. The GOP is good a eating their own or letting the other side pick their candidates. Note the last election.
Liberty or Death,
I believe in biblical teachings; It’s not an amoral view I have of how to live life. I believe we have been given the gift of free will and choice and all that we need to help our selves do what is right. I don’t believe God damns us as some have famously said; we damn ourselves.
stmichrick| 4.20.09 @ 9:29PM

Criticism of liberals is okay, but I have found that ridicule is much more effective. I find great joy in developing a rapier wit so that I can use it to skewer the smug little prigs. Great sport.
Lila| 4.20.09 @ 9:34PM
We already know what the liberal left wing/MSM calls a good rally. Throwing bricks or rocks in windows, with bandana's covering their faces, throwing pies, stepping on/or burning the American flag, calling people racists and bigots if you don't agree with them, etc, etc. Ms. J. Garofalo is the classic example of the angry, hateful, intolerant, uncompassionate liberal these days. The same woman that said anyone should be able to speak freely, (against Bush) and anyone that would say otherwise is an "Archie Bunker type"and a stupid person. It's not even worth getting irritated. They thrive on insults, hatred and meaness. They can't help themselves. They say they fight for the "little" guy, (and are against torture) but if this was true, they wouldn't abort/torture the little amongst us. Their skin is so thin, that you can see though it. No debate, just degrade. I am proud of my country no matter who is in the White House. Whether is be a Republican or Democrat. My patriotism doesn't depend on who is in the White House. I love America. This is my country and I couldn't be prouder. but I will pray for wisdom/insight for our president. So far, it is not looking good, but I have faith in the "real" Messiah. This coming from an ex-lib.
Angel| 4.20.09 @ 9:37PM
Oh, please--Julie Banderas is just wholesome? The women at FOX are beautiful: Have you watched Red Eye? My teenage son about falls off the couch looking at those 'girls'. I laugh at him--and you guys, too.
ruth| 4.20.09 @ 9:41PM
Geez, Lila--I was having such a nice evening, too. Did you have to bring up that pig face Garofalo? What a downer.
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 9:48PM
Lila, bear in mind "America" is an idea not a place or people. The child minds of the left trash people because they don't understand this. They get their power by tearing down others. You can not reason with a Rattlesnake. They do what they do. Sometimes the best weapon is silence and a very large stick put to proper use. Serious adults have had to step up to the plate in the past when the children got out of hand and steered the ship of state onto the rocks..... Let no one shut you up but don't lower yourself down to the level of a child as they do. I learned long ago (with some pain) that most fights are won or lost before they are fought. The one running their mouth usually loses or runs away.
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 9:51PM
Lila, Ruth, Angel,
How did we go from this to women in bikinis?
ds80| 4.20.09 @ 9:53PM
Thom, I'm hopeful that the tipping point will have been reached, as in the 90's with Ross Perot. That there will be enough disgust with our aristocratic Congress from across the entire political spectrum to cleanse Congress of career politicians of BOTH parties.
ds80| 4.20.09 @ 9:56PM
ruth - there is much anecdotal evidence in your observation. I also have found that Libs can't take ridicule without running home with their marbles crying, "Doody-head!" over their shoulder.
Thom| 4.20.09 @ 9:59PM
ds80, one could hope but Ross got Clinton elected and we are at a point where real problems aren't being addressed and imaginary ones are at great expense. Someone has to “pay” for all this and half the population pays nothing and thinks the other half should pay it all. Somebody’s Ox is going to get slaughtered here. There are simply too many free loaders in the system. .

Brad| 4.21.09 @ 6:28AM
Tom Paine - once again the left has missed the entire point. The tea parties are not directly about taxes - they are about out of control spending by the federal government. I don't care what party initiates it - it's out of control.
The point of this article was to point out how biased the media is. How can these people call themselves journalists? They are anything but journalists.
As for your observation regarding the average age of a Rush listener, or how most of the protesters are getting tax cuts under Obama, so what? I can only assume that this is a poor attempt on your part to insult those protesting. Should I feel grateful to Obama that I am being allowed to keep more of my own money? Gee - thanks!
I am growing tired of the insinuation that anyone who is a conservative simply marches in lockstep with anything Limbaugh has to say (or any other radio or TV personality for that matter). Most of us who are opposed to the outrageous spending being done by Washington, are at work when these people are on the air. I can’t tell you the last time I heard Limbaugh, Hannity or any other talk show host. I work thirteen hours a day so that I can be sure to pay my “fair share” of taxes. That is until those of you on the left decide that I still have too much - by whatever measure you decide to use.

Bilwick| 4.21.09 @ 8:51AM
I see Lord Percy State-Fellator (the person misusing the name "Tom Paine"--which would sort of be like me using the name "Karl Marx" for some perverse reason) is back, once again pushing for submission to the Annointed One. If the real Tom Paine had this guy's Cult-of-the-State mind-set, instead of "Common Sense" he'd have written "Whatever Stupid Ideas Come into My Head At Any Time," a Tory screed preaching submission to King George.
Nick in Virgini| 4.21.09 @ 9:25AM
The people here on this site get it. Even though our INCOME TAXES might not go up, even though We The People may not have to pay Cap-and-Trade taxes (directly), we will be paying all the taxes that the corporations have to swallow under the 0bama administration, because CORPORATIONS DO NOT PAY TAXES, their customers do.
Most people at this site understand that, so I won't explain as I would if I were on a CNN, NY Times, WaPo, or other lefty site.
The problem here is, there are hardly any lefties to convince (and the lefties who are on this site, such as Thomas Paine, are paid by the DNC to just act as pests, so they are not about to look at things in a different light no matter how strong an argument someone makes).
So all we can do is keep plugging away.
lefthanded_rightminded| 4.21.09 @ 9:57AM
The average Limbaugh listener is 67? Okay, I'll go with that. I myself (42) don't listen, either, but not because I disagree with Rush's views. It's because the show airs during the day, and I (gasp!) have a JOB. And, because of my work ethic (all you liberals may need to look that phrase up), I don't have time to listen to talk radio while I'm at said job. I'm sure the demographic would drop down considerably if they aired him during rush hour in the major markets.

I had to laugh at the guy above who said that the protesters were getting tax cuts from Obama. Read the fine print you moron! NO ONE is getting a tax cut. What one hand giveth, the other taketh away. Thus is the way of the lord obama. The stimulus is nothing more than a purchase of votes. The untaxed, the unions, the greenies, the energy aware crowd all get something from lord obama. Business, industry, entrepreneurs, etc. get higher taxes and more regulation.

My comment about the Obama supports bashing older folks as 'out of touch' or similar canards is as follows:
A Stunning Senior Moment
A self-important college freshman (typical Obama supporter) walking along the beach took it upon himself to explain to a senior citizen resting on the steps why it was impossible for the older generation to understand his generation. “You grew up in a different world, actually an almost primitive one” the student said loud enough for others to hear. “The young people of today grew up with television, jet planes, space travel, and man walking on the moon. We have nuclear energy, ships and cell phones, computers with light speed….and many more.”
After a brief silence, the senior citizen responded as follows. “You’re right son. We didn’t have those things when we were young…so we invented them. Now you arrogant little sh*t what are you doing for the next generation?
This young man typifies the Obama supporter. Everything that this great country invented and produced is right in front of all of us. The older generation gets zero credit, and even more important this great country and its great entrepreneurial spirit and “non-socialist” Capitalist system made it all possible!
So before you ‘young Turks’ cast stones at your elders, or the most successful government experiment in the history of mankind think just for a few minutes, and imagine where will all the good things come from with Obama’s BIG government in charge of everything. In case you have a hard time figuring this out, let me add, government does NOT produce anything. Government takes and wastes. Now you figure out how we will still be a great nation. The simple answer is ‘we will cease to being great’ and your life in the future will be far more bleak. Think about it if you can…if you can’t I feel sorry for you and all of us!

JD. good post. Let me compare numbers, however. From what I can see, if we count expense, set asides and interest, the total for Obama is much closer to 9 trillion or around $600 million per hour on a 24 hour day.
Yesterday, FoxBusinessNews revealed that only $60 billion has been spent of Febs $787 billion "stimulus" bill.
Here in the Central Valley of California, near Fresno, our section of the state received absolutely nothing, not a penny, of the monies released to the state. One of our state's Representatives, Devin Nunes, also revealed that no money will be coming to this section until the Westside farmers do something else besides farm.. Pelosi (from San FRan) believes their use of water on the Westside is illegal and harmful to the environment and refuses to allow monies to be spent in the region until something changes.
If there is anyone on this site who still believes that Obama intends on being a President of all the people, well, you are probably as stupid as stupid gets.
I am 64 and have no intentions of letting this country be taken over in a "peacefully" but radically charged coup. Ain't going to happen.
I could not be more discouraged nor angry than I am right now. I truly wanted this President to be successful and was willing to compromise, knowing that his cultural biases are different than mine.
But now, as of this morning [ if not before ] , he has declared war on Conservatives with his willingness to prosecute the previous administration for war crimes. His lot has to be defeated in 2010 or armed resistance may be the alternative. Sad but very true.
He knows nothing of economics. He knows nothing about foreign affairs. He is anti-military. He is anti-gun ownership. He is no more a Christian than I am a Muslim and works against the Faith on every occasion. He is an abortion freak. He cannot resist a daily photo shot and is a micro-manager of historic proportions. He cares nothing about the dynamics of Constitutional government. He cares nothing for free political speech and is probably not even a citizen of this country. Also, he is neither a Socialist nor a Captialist, choosing rather to function as a Bill Ayers radical. He is quickly becoming the acknowledged enemy of freedom and traditional values.
We still have voting rights and free political speech. While that remains true, we need to get involved as we have never been. Demonstrations, political debate, grassroots efforts, never missing an opportunity to disagree and doing so in a civil but knowledgeable fashion, all these efforts have become critical options for those who have not joined the traitorous ranks of the radial leftists who are now in charge of this country.
What can we do that does not involve violence .. specifically? Ignore idiots like Tom Paine and whoever. Lets talk about effective ways of dealing with this crisis - and I am not talking about the financial crisis.

I’ll have a Poptropica full written walkthrough very soon, but in the meantime, here are some answers to some of the frequently asked questions about Mythology Island. Having trouble? Post a question in the comments and I’ll try to answer it!
Getting Hercules to Help You Poptropica
Hercules won’t help you until you have all five items from Zeus’ quest. Once you have the five items, bring them to Athena. Zeus will appear and steal them. The big jerk! Once this happens, talk to Athena and she will tell you that Hercules will help you. You’ll need to have the magic mirror from Aphrodite because Hercules doesn’t want to have to walk. He’s so lazy!
Getting the Hydra Scale Poptropica
You can see how to do this in the videos, but basically you need to jump up when the Hydra is about to strike. He will rear one of his heads back to attack and his eyes will bulge out. Poptropica When this happens, jump up in the air and then try to land on top of his head. That head will get knocked out. When all five heads get knocked out, the Hydra will be asleep and you can click on him to get one of the scales. Regarding Paul Begala's noble sentiment that "Paying my fair share of taxes, it seems, is the least I can do." , 1) what is his "fair share" and who determines it? and 2) is he saying it's a big patriotic (and maybe f**ing) deal just to fill out your tax return and not cheat? If that's his idea of patriotism, it sure doesn't amount to much. Certainly nothing to brag about. Unless, that is, you take those in the BO administration, who aren't patriotic by Begala's definition, as the norm.

Will,
President Obama in his first 100 days has borrowed over $5 trillion. It took President Bush 8 years and a war to borrow $4 trillion. The final pricetag for Obama's deficits could reach $16 trillion before his time in office is up.

The problem with politics is the fact that it is run by politicians who only care about how much money they can make. This annoys the everyday person and leads to these kinds of riots.
