I don’t question Donald Trump’s assertion that Hillary Clinton is a “world-class liar.” This is self-evident.
But in Trump’s case, it is question of it takes one to know one.
Hillary richly deserves to be criticized over the activities of The Clinton Foundation. But given his past financial support of The Clinton Foundation, it is difficult to take Trump’s criticisms seriously. The same can be said of his previous support for her Senate election campaign and her first White House bid. As recently as this past January, Trump justified his donations claiming he had an “obligation” to get along with the Clintons. To give you an idea of how obliged he felt to curry favor with the Clintons, he has donated more to them than he has to the veterans he purports to care so much about.
The problem with Donald Trump’s speech about Hillary Clinton wasn’t its message, but rather its messenger.
