Her decision not to run for the Sen. Robert Byrd’s old seat in West Virginia is probably the biggest Republican recruiting setback of this election cycle (though that’s partly because they’ve gotten most of their first choices and been able to remain competitive where they haven’t). It remains to be seen whether a less well known Republican can capitalize on Barack Obama’s massive unpopularity in the state when facing off against popular Democratic Gov. Joe Manchin.
