FBI Director James Comey Fired

by

Finally. President Trump, at the behest of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, fired James Comey, the head of the FBI.

President Obama should have fired James Comey but didn’t. Amazingly, the new Attorney General, Jeff Sessions, lays out the reasons why. He is 100% correct. I encourage you to read the linked documentation below.

Here’s a link to the documentation explaining the reasoning for firing Comey: LINK.

There will be some criticism from the Right complaining that no good deed goes unpunished, but that’s the wrong read on this situation.

Discipline in the government needs to return. The IRS may not use its power to persecute political foes. The NSA may not use its power to investigate everyone. The FBI may not use its power to cast aspersions on someone who they refuse to indict.

Now, I believe that Comey should have recommended to the DOJ that Hillary Clinton, Huma Abedin, and others be indicted for their participation in clearly breaking the law. They had and have evidence to do so and didn’t.

That is secondary, though, to the actions of Comey implying guilt and playing judge and jury, but not indicting because of his belief that the Department of Justice was corrupt (which it was). His job is not righting the wrongs of a corrupt Justice Department. His job is gathering evidence in criminal investigations.

As to the Justice Department’s non-stop malfeasance under Obama appointees. Hopefully, Attorney General Jeff Sessions is cleaning up that pig sty of a governmental agency. Head still need to roll.

The firing of James Comey, though, is an important start. It demonstrates that there’s a new sheriff in town and that the behavior and lack of discipline that’s been a hallmark of our federal government through the Obama administration will not be allowed to continue.
