A little unintentional humor on the part of Don Lemon, one of CNN’s relentlessly leftist newsreaders. The kind of humor that follows when someone really doesn’t consider the different ways what they’re about to say can be taken. Lemon jumped to the defense of Los Angeles Congresswoman Slappy Maxey Waters, who Saturday called on-the-street hell-raisers in Minneapolis to raise even more hell if Officer Derek Chauvin is not found guilty of murdering George Floyd.
By now most have read or heard her words: “We’ve got to stay on the street and we’ve got to get more active. We’ve got to get more confrontational. We’ve got to make sure they know that we mean business.”
Charming.
And here’s Lemon’s knee-slapper. After conceding that what Waters said was probably not politic, he played the “mostly peaceful” card yet again with this: “She should know better … but was Maxine Waters really calling for people to loot and riot? I think most people with half a brain knows [sic] that’s not what she was doing.”
Exactly so, Don. It would take someone with half a brain not to conclude that was exactly what Waters was calling for — more rioting and hell-raising if the jury doesn’t come up with the “right” decision. No one playing with a full deck would find “more confrontational” as ambiguous and benign as Lemon claims to.
