Cleveland is now a winner.
Down three games to one to the Golden State Warriors, the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Warriors 93-89 to win their first NBA Title. It is also Cleveland’s first sports championship since the Browns won the NFL Championship in 1964.
It looked like LeBron James had broken his wrist with just over 10 seconds left in the final. But LeBron shot a free throw to give the Cavs a four point lead and they never looked back.
First, the NBA Title. Then comes the Republican Convention. If the Cleveland Indians win the World Series, the planets might very realign.
This is a heart breaker for the Warriors. They set the NBA record for best won loss record. But that record doesn’t mean very much without an NBA title. It’s going to be long off-season for Stephen Curry and company.
Congratulations to the people of Cleveland. While there is cause for celebration I hope they don’t tear up the city.
