Baton Rouge Police Officers Ambushed, Three Dead and Three Wounded

by

While responding to a call early this morning, six police officers in Baton Rouge were shot in an ambush killing three of them and injuring another three. As of this writing, the condition of the wounded officers is unknown.

The attack comes less than two weeks after the fatal shooting of Alton Sterling by Baton Rouge police officers. It also comes just over a week after a dozen Dallas police officers were shot, five fatally, following a Black Lives Matter protest over the shootings of Sterling and Philando Castile in Minnesota.

Following the Dallas attacks, Jack Dunphy, the pen name of a LAPD police officer who writes for NRO, wrote “these attacks will surely not be the last.” It did not take long for his words to come to fruition.

If these aren’t the last attacks against our police officers then surely it won’t be the last time President Obama takes another opportunity to pillory police at a funeral and claim it is easier for a teenager to buy a gun than to get a book. In which case, we are in for a very long, hot summer.
