After Turning a Generation Into Illiterate Morons, Columbia Fires Teaching Hack

Phonics works. It teaches children to sound out words simply and efficiently. The problem with it? Nothing, except “educators” always think there’s some better way to do things.

That was Lucy Calkins and the Columbia Teachers College Reading and Writing Project. This lady and the Columbia Teachers College that supported her made two generations into illiterate morons. (READ MORE: Progressives Just Admitted They Were Wrong on Phonics)

From the New York Post:

Her “balanced literacy” approach gave short shrift to phonics — by teaching children to look at pictures and guess words, for example, instead of sounding them out — and failed to foster the building of knowledge and vocabulary vital to learning the love of reading.

Columbia’s decision comes months after Chancellor David Banks pulled the plug on the Calkins-friendly approach once used by nearly half of NYC public schools.

How many lives have been ruined by this woman and Columbia College?

Ah, never mind.
