It’s no surprise that the man who wrote Sean Connery’s fearsome speech in The Untouchables was canceled by the Left. Brilliant playwright David Mamet may not have been a conservative 35 years ago when he wrote the classic film, but clearly his artistic exodus from liberalism had already begun. His speech is the perfect call to arms for conservatives to drain the progressive Swamp soiling this great land. It encompasses Republican “leaders” who are as anemic or collaborative with progressive tyranny as the Chicago police was during Al Capone’s reign of terror. Cowed by the decomposing zombie in the White House, the slim Democratic majorities in Congress, and their mainstream media and social media intimidators, they have metaphorically brought a knife to a gunfight. And last week one of theirs got hit.
Twitter permanently suspended Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene’s account, disregarding her nearly half million followers and even larger constituency. The standard nebulous explanation for the move — blather about “repeated violations” of its COVID policies — is irrelevant since disproven leftists and government shills never get the same treatment. What matters and damages is the silence of the lambs, also known as the GOP leadership.
Top Senate Republican Mitch McConnell still has his get-out-of-hell card for keeping corrupt regime toady Merrick Garland off the Supreme Court but has otherwise been ineffective. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, the latest useless Republican occupier of that seat (after John Boehner and Paul Ryan), gave the usual blithering response to the Twitter action: “Their recent decisions to silence Americans — including a sitting member of Congress and renowned physicians — who share views different from the political and media elite have real world costs.” “Real world costs” — words to send a chill down no liberal’s spine.
It took the man leftists actually fear, Donald Trump, to remind them why they do — because he’s the conservatives’ Sean Connery. “Twitter is a disgrace to democracy,” Trump said in a statement Monday. “Marjorie Taylor Greene has a huge constituency of honest, patriotic, hard-working people. They don’t deserve what happened to them in places like low-life Twitter and Facebook. Everybody should drop off Twitter and Facebook. They’re boring, have only a Radical Left point of view, and are hated by everyone. They are a disgrace to our nation. Keep fighting, Marjorie.”
The difference between Trump and the petrified GOP establishment is that he understands what Connery’s Jimmy Malone did about the opposition: “They won’t give up the fight until one of you is dead.” Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and Bernie Sanders are desiccated old ghouls, but they’ll stop at nothing to ram their Marxist agenda down America’s throat. While Republicans cite the Marquess of Queensberry rules, Democrats break them or try to.
Trump defeats the progressive dynasty hag in the presidential race? Say the Russians did it and let your media flunkies hound him with that lie for three years. Trump gets three conservatives on the Supreme Court? Stack the Court and nullify them. Democrats face an electoral wipeout this fall? Hell, federalize election laws to prevent it. What Trump didn’t have was any backup. He stood alone against the corrupt machine that defeated him, while being stabbed in the back by the FBI, CIA, Pentagon, and even Fox News. He was Jimmy Malone minus Eliot Ness and the Untouchables, and he paid a heavy price.
But last month, left-wing social media messed with the wrong Republican president. Facebook permanently banned a children’s book publisher, Heroes of Liberty, from advertising its new book about Ronald Reagan, along with others on Thomas Sowell and Amy Coney Barrett. Facebook’s explanation was typically unintelligible. (“Ads must not contain content leading to external landing pages that provide an unexpected or disruptive experience.”) English translation: We don’t want our little future Marxists to learn about the greatest president of the 20th century because he was a Republican patriot who might make them question their indoctrination and everything we stand for. It was a burning book too many for conservatives, whose pushback convinced Facebook to reverse its decision.
And more Untouchables are coming, with or without Trump. There’s a new breed of young Republicans ready to excise the rot in their own party — see Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, Mitt Romney, et cetera — and tear down the social media wall. They’re people like Washington congressional candidate Joe Kent (“Big tech must be broken up. The regime’s narrative is eroding & they are desperate”) and New York Rep. Elise Stefanik (“Big Tech tyranny must be stopped. It’s an attack on our fundamental Constitutional rights and freedom of speech”). They and many more are bringing the Chicago way to Washington, D.C. And it will be a political bloodbath for the Democrats.
