The Politico has done a fascinating new poll of Tea Party activists breaking them into two wings: a socially conservative branch that identifies with Sarah Palin and a more libertarian one that prefers Ron Paul. The two groups are close in size.
Of course, the results can be overslimplified. Just 15 percent of the Tea Partiers polled picked Palin and only 12 percent chose Paul. Their 2012 presidential choices were similar: Palin was the choice of 15 percent, Paul 14 percent. But that suggests the overhwhelming majority favor other politicians — or, more likely, none at all.
