I can only imagine the tortured, navel-gazing, years-long national discussion we’d have been subjected to if a Republican senator had held up a “Welcome Terrorists” sign to protest Barack Obama’s vote against Bush’s debt ceiling hike a few years back. Happily for Al Franken, membership has its privileges.
