Lobbyists Plan Obamacare Strategy Shindig

by

The American League of Lobbyists (ALL, as in all your tax dollar are belong to us) cordially invites you to an event called “Lobbying the Affordable Care Act” to be held Tuesday, July 23rd from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Hall of States in Washington. Admission is $35 for members and $79 for non-members, but since when can anyone have it ALL? Indeed, the new health care law is a minefield for rent-seekers:

The Affordable Care Act is an incredibly wide-ranging law that impacts everyone’s daily lives and has numerous industries changing their business practices to adjust. As a lobbyist, your clients and members expect you to find victories in a law bogged down by regulatory delays and state refusals to comply. So how can you show success? Join ALL for a webinar on how to conduct a successful advocacy campaign with the ACA and how you can measure success in a law where outright successes are few and far between. Our presenter, Randall Jefferson of Factotum Business and Government Solutions as well as the co-host of the Bipartisan Voices of the People radio show, will share his experiences with clients struggling to comply as well as tips he’s [sic] picked up along the way to find success in lobbying the state and federal government on ACA issues. This webinar will not be a breakdown of the issues being implemented with the ACA but a discussion of tactics that any lobbyist could use for his or her clients/members.

Those pesky states, with their refusals to comply! But as the final sentence notes, serious lobbying professionals focused on getting the most bang for the public buck can rest assured that this event will be confined to exploiting the law, ignoring trivialities like its policy impact. This is business, after all. There is much work to be done, but much opportunity for those who recognize it. Fortune favors the prepared. Be there or be square!
