With Queen’s Approval, Britain Legalizes Gay Marriage

by

Britain legalized gay marriage today with Queen Elizabeth II’s approval, allowing gay marriages to be performed next summer.

According to AP, the queen’s affirmation, a formality, was the last step in passing the bill. The legislation will allow gay marriages to be performed in civil and religious ceremonies in England and Wales, except through the Church of England, which is barred from offering same-sex weddings.
