Leftists at the L.A. Times are unhappy: Lady Ga Ga missed her moment to say something “profound.” Here’s Mikael Wood’s two cents:
This was her moment to say something profound (or at least grandly scaled) about American acceptance — yet she passed, seemingly eager to move onto the infinitely lighter-weight “Just Dance,” for which she hoisted a shiny keytar, again escaping into the past rather than facing up to the harsh reality of 2017.
The half-time show at the Super Bowl is not the place to be “profound.” It’s the place to have fun. How grindingly miserable life as a leftist must be that every moment be infused with their insufferable messaging.
The Super Bowl was a feat of sports entertainment thanks to the Falcon’s stupendous implosion and a sublime performance by Tom Brady with a near-miraculous catch by wide receiver Julian Edelman.
Lady Ga Ga’s show was fun, upbeat and patriotic. Being patriotic is being political in the best way. Lady GaGa was political enough.
