One of the latest peculiar dogmas of the LGBT political movement is that persons with XY chromosomes, if they should for any reason start feeling womanish, ought to be free to use the ladies’ room if they choose. And, we’re scolded, anyone who thinks this is daft (which 20 years ago would have included the entire population of the planet) is a bigot.
Gee, what could possibly go wrong?
Well, among other things, this. On Wednesday, a 28-year-old man in Riverview, Florida, a suburb of Tampa, was arrested in a supermarket ladies’ room and charged with video voyeurism. A Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said Michael McEwan was a suspect in another case of video voyeurism and was under surveillance by a woman detective Wednesday afternoon when he entered a stall in the ladies’ room. The detective, who entered a stall next to the one occupied by McEwan, said she saw and recorded him attempting to film her with his cell phone. She then arrested him. Hillsborough SO officials say McEwan admitted after his arrest that he has done this sort of thing before.
Video voyeurism is a felony. McEwan was released from the Hillsborough County jail Thursday on $2,000 bond.
It is not recorded if McEwan felt womanish on Wednesday. Nor do we know if he was humming a few bars of “I feel pretty” on his way to the ladies’. But if we are to have co-ed restrooms and locker rooms, know that the Michael McEwens and his like-minded male-on-their-birth-certificate colleagues are part of this brave new world.
