At a campaign rally in Sioux City, Iowa in January, the Donald made the unlovely claim that: “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters.”
As someone very smart once said, you can only exaggerate the truth. Before this daring claim, the Donald had said a series of things that would have sunk almost any candidate in the history of the republic. He said these things while sustaining no loss of support. But I suspect even some dedicated Trumpkins would have bailed if he had whacked someone in broad daylight.
But as events of the last months, and especially of yesterday demonstrate, Mz Hillary likely would not only not lose any supporters on account of such an act, but she certainly wouldn’t be charged with anything either. The Donald, on the other hand, his imagined crime taking place in a heavily Democratic jurisdiction, would be jugged in a New York minute.
