This late news from Zogby shows that what may be happening in Iowa is what common sense says will happen when two front-runners fight so noisily that they begin sounding like petty children: The third candidate gains support from those disgusted with both of them. In this case, it looks like Fred Thompson may be getting a late boost — “picking up the pieces,” as I predicted in an earlier column. He also may be helped by kind words from Rush Limbaugh, Limbaugh’s criticism of Huckabee and McCain, David Limbaugh’s endorsement, more blogger endorsements, and a nice column in the WSJ by Larry Lindsey.
