Re: Inconvenient Questions

Got some audio of Phelim McAleer's question to Al Gore at the SEJ conference this morning. The co-director/producer of "Not Evil Just Wrong" asked the former veep what he's done to correct the nine errors, as determined by a British court, in "An Inconvenient Truth." Listen to Gore flub the endangerment of polar bears issue.

I am told the NEJW Web site should have video of the exchange up later.

So what if the Polar bear is endangered anyway? If they go extinct we'll live. After all, the dinosaurs did and by golly gee, we're still here! Just think... even alGore (aka Mr. Green Jeans) will be extinct soon. How, oh how, will the planet survive without him? Come to think of it, how did the planet survive before he got here?

Sometimes, when people take the extremely short view on a matter of importance one just has to smile. The answer to your albeit short sighted question is the polar bear is part of a bigger eco-system, part of yet a larger one, and so on until the human race is included. Failure to pay attention to the little things leads to failure of the larger ones, which would take us extinct, my short sighted friend. So what if the Brazilian rainforest is endangered, pouring tens of thousands of pounds of CO2 into the atmosphere. If they go extinct, we'll live. But how long? Don your thermal suit.

Classic exposition, I have also mentioned it in my blog article. But it is a pity that almost no friend discussed it with me. I am very happy to see your article.
