ACORN is shutting its New Orleans headquarters down and laying off all staff there.

Major layoffs are also planned for ACORN's offices in Washington, D.C., and New York City.

ACORN spokesman Scott Levenson denied it yesterday and told me I was wrong when I spoke with him by telephone yesterday.

I have the exclusive story at BigGovernment.

ACORN is not dead yet but it's in big trouble.

I heard that President Bush caused Hurricane Katrina to hit NOLA so that Donald Trump could buy up all the valuable land in the 9th Ward.

Any theory that does not take Haliburton into account is worthless.

This is great news, Mr. Vadum. I know you won't take your eyes off of this slimy group, which is a good thing because they could just morph into something else (which I'm sure they will to some extent). But at this point in time...take a bow, sir. You and O'Keefe and Giles and Breitbart and Beck deserve the thanks of a grateful nation, although you'll probably just get raked over the coals. Bless you. Just remember, you all are fighting for your country on the home front.

Yes, what Deborah said!

Great news-----now possibly Obama will be able to eleminate the deficit and debt, due to the governmental saving of our tax revenues from not having to pay/fund Acorn!!!!!!

The ACLU should be next on the list

It sounds like ACORN is marshalling assets for damage control. The New Orleans building is already encumbered by tax liens far in excess of the listing price for the property. How could there be a meaningful intent or ability to sell a property that cannot settle until the tax liens are cleared?

ACORN and the Rathkes, Directors, Officers and financial employees will probably concoct a trust fund deal with IRS incident to a scam on the real property. The corporations will be able to discharge the employer share of payroll taxes and the responsible parties will walk away free and clear.

Someone will want to examine the workers compensation insurance(s), pension contributions and funding, health insurance funding and any pending claims, to the extent there was a health insurance program.

For the moment, they are likely consolidating and combining resources to protect, to the extent of indemnifying, the officers and directors. RICO will take care of them, presuming that the US Attorney can keep Eric Holder away from the case.

My guess is that Holder would sponsor a fund raising benefit for ACORN featuring a cast of Hollywood liberati and the usual bleeding heart pathetiques.

ACORN be damned!
