Obama's Lost Night

With polls showing that a majority of Americans now disapprove of his handling of health care, Democrats in Congress fighting among themselves, the CBO rejecting the idea that any current plans reduce health care costs, and the August deadline for passing health care legislation looking more like a pipe dream with each passing hour, President Obama had a chance tonight to reset the debate. Instead, he rambled on, rehashing a series of wonky talking points, and he wasted so much time dodging questions that he only had time for 10 of them in a press conference that spanned nearly one hour.

When I get a hold of the transcript, I plan on pointing out numerous factual errors and -- there's no polite way of saying this -- lies that Obama made in his remarks, but there's one comment that really stood out for me. At one point, Obama made the insulting suggestion that when children go to doctors with sore throats, doctors consult payment charts, and unneccesarily remove kids' tonsils just to earn extra money. Aside from being a cynical remark, it isn't smart politically, as polling shows that Americans trust doctors far more than politicians when it comes to health care.

Also worth noting, at one point Obama said he wouldn't support health care legislation that was "primarily" funded by raising taxes on the middle class. But does that mean he'd be open to a bill that was partially funded that way?

Thank you for using the word "lies." There has been too much cowardice in that area for years.

I agree with the comment about the doctor. That was mean-spirited as well as a lie. Calling the Cambridge police stupid was also stupid. Obama was right he doesn't know what happened. The prof was belligerent and cruisin' for a bruisin'. I listen to Boston talk radio and the prof is known for having an attitude. "Do you know who I am?"

The best solution to our healthcare "crisis" is to remove the government, attorneys, and maybe even insurers from healthcare. Let the doctors do what they do best without outside interference. When the outsiders tie our hands and tell us what we can and cannot do, they are, in effect, practicing medicine without a license. Restore our freedom to practice as we were trained and see what happens to health care costs. Any economist can tell you that rationing and restricting will never drive prices down. Hands off my practice, Mr. President!

The lies have never stopped! He will continue to disseminate his propaganda until he has completely dismantled our country. It is amazing that he continues to rely on his belief that we are complete idiots!
Yes we can = yes you are ruining our great country

Obama looked weak and disconnected from reality; it's obvious he has very little governing experience under his belt. He's not a leader. It's a travesty that he was ever elected TOTUS.

'Elegant' style and pretty speeches aren't enough: He really reminds me of the Wizard of Oz.

He's in WAAAY over his head. Scary!

This man has no clue about reality. If I was a doctor, I would be burning with anger against this arrogant, condescending President. Unbelievable.

Be in D.C. September 10-12!

Can you see a pattern here? Obama wants something, he leaves it others to create it, he has no idea what the details are and he bullies to get it approved. (Stimulus, Cap and Trade, Health care) The Chicago way.

Cap and Tax and Healthcare reform will not pass. The economy will probably improve despite the stimulus and he'll unjustly get credit for it, just in time for the '10 midterms.

When narcissists unravel, it is not a pretty sight. Obama has spent his whole career coasting along as an affirmative action moocher. Now he has won the jackpot, but the prize he won is the world's toughest job. He is probably saying to himself: "Jeeze, now I have to work? Life ain't fair!"

rdman| 7.23.09 @ 12:18PM

The irony Obami faces is that he will unwittingly bring about what he most fears… REJECTION when his narcissism, exploitativeness, malice, deception, vindictiveness is realized by his worshippers and followers.

Obami, who was so desirous of being affirmed, is now exposed as a liar, a subversive fraud and worse. So much of what his followers admired turns out to be false fronts, thin facades that are now collapsing, revealing the Obami’s nothingness and emptiness.

Obami's worshippers and followers realize that they were so seduced by the slick package that they did not realize that there is nothing in it… the package was the message.
