House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman was interviewed by MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell about Minority Leader John Boehner's comments that the cap-and-tax bill was a "pile of s--t." In alleging that Republicans are "rooting against the country" and also "against the world," Waxman has apparently either disregarded, or didn't hear about, the warning/strategy embraced by most other alarmists to avoid the term, "global warming." Waxman's comments, from the interview:
...the world needs to get its act together to stop global warming....
Some Republicans doubt the whole science of global warming, even though the consensus is overwhelming. They don't want to believe it. They don't want to do anything about it. And meanwhile the evidence is mounting faster and faster that we're suffering already from carbon emissions.
Global temperatures are no higher than they were ten years ago. Consensus is a myth, like global warming itself. It's no longer an issue that anyone between the coastal elites take seriously, except for how much it will devastate the economy.
It's hard to believe that Waxman is unaware of the current data and scientific opinion. Even most extreme alarmists I don't think could say, presently, that "evidence is mounting faster and faster that we're suffering already...." So can this be described as anything other than a devious, naked power grab grounded in an issue that is no longer powerful enough to pull it off?
The Democrats say Obamacare opponents are a mob. Are they right?

How about BOTH!!!

These Democrats are going hog wild. I doubt most of them believe the "science" (some may have convinced themsleves by repeating it over and over and over again), they just see this for what it is: another chance to bilk the taxpayer out of money that they can either pocket, spend on/through their friends or buy more votes. I'd say the situation in Honduras could be a preview of the US in 3 years.

The alleged global warming crisis is about nothing more than the political classes drugs of choice, money and power. By giving themselves control over energy production they control everything else, and are able to punish or reward as they see fit. This was never about the environment, in fact, I seriously doubt that any piece of environmental legislation passed in the last 25 years was about anything more than grabbing more money in fees and taxes, or political payback.

Carol Browner has all the evidence she needs to give her stamp of approval to THE BILL. When asked by Doocy on Fox and Friends if she had actually read it, she said that such a question is UNFAIR.

I don't know if it would have mattered...but might the last election have turned out differently....if McCain had talked a lot more about drilling for our own resources? Instead, McCain let us all know that he believed in Global Warming, too. Remember how Sarah was going to try to convince him to drill in Anwar?
She couldn't even get him to commit to that.
So, if we'd had a "global warming is BS" candidate for Prez.....and if we'd had a tough on the borders candidate for Prez.....we might not be in the nightmare we're now all under.
bluecollarbytes| 6.29.09 @ 10:54PM
Global Warming is not about the science anymore, if it ever was. It's all about money trails and ideological recklessness.

How are these Waxman-esque liberals any different than their jihadist cousins? Lying in the name of the cause is a virtue. Ends justify means. WE know what"s best. Political chancre sores.

Obama claimed that the average American would not bear the brunt of this historic tax-increase… claiming instead that “It is paid for by the polluters who currently emit dangerous carbon emissions.”
Just compare this outrageous falsehood to Ronald Reagans’ timeless wisdom:
“The most dangerous myth is the demagoguery that business can be made to pay a larger share, thus relieving the individual. Politicians preaching this are either deliberately dishonest, or economically illiterate, and either one should scare us.
…Only people pay taxes, and people pay as consumers every tax that is assessed against a business.”
And after the way they rammed this through the House with little debate, without legislators even reading it… and while quarantining the GOP from any meaningful input whatsoever, any foolhardy individuals who still believe Obama’s threadbare “bipartisanship” spiel ought to have their head examined

For all of you global warming/climate change experts, please name a few accredited science programs that teach that global warming is not real.
I don't know the exact number, but I think it's safe to say it's somewhere between 0 and 0.
The Republican Party has no credibility, likewise this publication.

Many departments of science teach evolution and there is NO evidence or common sense to validate it. As an example, Darwin's ideas posit that it is possible for a lower order to move to a higher order of life. Really? So it would be possible to go from a pile of rust to an iron bar? I believe entropy gets in the way of Mr. Darwin. Try another argument.

Isn't it amusing how frothy the disciples of the Church of Climate Change get when their dogma is challenged?

Im almost sick of the back n forth that we go through on almost every issue. Who is the Judge ?
Dems say carbon-dioxide (human caused), the Right says its related to solar activity. The left says govt run healthcare will be more efficient and deliver better care, the right says other countries that have national healthcare leave many people waiting for surgery, etc., and that rationing becomes an issue as one nears end of life. Until someone comes along and refutes or legitimizes the arguments, the winner is the party in power. That is a terrible way to govern with issues such as this. The Founders never intended for the central government to decide and implement issues that relate to our environment.

I am Canadian. Please don't tell me to mind my own business because as America goes - so does Canada. If we don't go willingly we are coerced by our need to trade with the United States.
I was not crazy about Bush but I can hardly believe what the Obama administration has done to your country in such a short time.
The economic decline of America was to be expected because it stands to reason that prosperity can not continue if your role in the world economy is one of principal consumer instead of major producer.
The climate change bill under discussion must be resisted as strenuously as possible! It will bring the United States to complete ruin in just a few years - to no avail but to enrich the many companies and organizations already primed to cash in on cap and trade - the most bizarre but profitable scheme ever devised - selling the ephemeral and unmeasurable to the gullible - Madoff would be proud!
Americans do not pay enough attention to the REAL European experience with going green and any attempt to bring forth evidence that disagrees with Anthropomorphic Global Warming is dismissed or hushed up. The media, everywhere, is highly complicit in this but it would seem to me that the Republican Party has the money and staff to dig beneath the surface more extensively - and then has the courage to speak out!
Dissenting scientist are legion around the world but they can not be heard. No matter how well qualified they are dismissed. Why?
Many good books have been written - the newest and best is now available - HEAVEN AND EARTH - A NEW LOOK AT CLIMATE CHANGE by Professor Ian Plimer of Australia. He describes the current theory of climate change as a new ignorance filling the yawning spiritual gap in Western society. " I agree with him because true AGW believers are resistant to any reasoned argument but most people remain unsure and confused - and don't know what to believe. They remain open to reason!
Only yesterday it was reported that a report by an EPA employee, showing that there currently no global warming, was removed from consideration because it would detract from the CO2 reduction agenda.
REPUBLICANS MUST insist on seeing this report and making it public! Nobody else will do it!
Also yesterday, it was reported that our top Polar Bear expert was dis-invited to the Copenhagen climate summit because he would be forced to report that the polar population is in fact, doing well and growing - again not in keeping with the agenda. Who better to ask about polar bears than a Canadian scientist?
News is managed everywhere - but nowhere as thoroughly as in America. Except for FOX there are no dissenting voices!
Surely you must have more congenial spokesmen that Hannity and Rush. They just turn off the people in the middle ground and will get you nowhere!

I used to be a math and science teacher here in Florida until 9/11 caused massive layoffs. I asked my students the same questions I asked dmac and received shocked looks and silence, as a result. The "global-warmers" aren't using science but hysteria and hyperbole to "advance" their ideas. My questions among liberal adults usually yield red-faces and silence or quiet cursing.
